3L turbo final round

I think BurritaSVT made a thread concerning motors sitting for awhile , I'd be less concerned about the WP, and more concerned about internals.

really? i'll try and find it. thx

EDIT- i found the thread. from the comments on there, i deduce that as long as the motor is inspected well, and bearings changed, it should be fine. i plan to do both. 1)pull the heads and inspect. and then change the gaskets. 2) replace the bearings with clevitte ones. and as u can tell from the pictures, the valves, cams, and rockers are all good.

took the turbo kit out. started disconnecting stuff off the motor in the car. i have the car sitting on two jackstands in the front. and of course, its angled. any potential drawbacks to this? as in pulling the motor and all? i ask cos i've seen many put their cars on all 4 jackstands.

As long as you can get the cherry picker legs to fit under the car without hitting jack stands then you are fine.

Those are the valve covers you want to run... Better PCV system.

I didn't read your whole thread but if you're finally ready to make some real power you should leave those 3 liter cams and Oval port intakes on.

Pud beat me to it. Leave the 3.0l intake on!!!! It flows a LOT more air than the 2.5. Svt intakes. And have Joe powder coat your valve covers

meh the intakes and cams just make the motors power in different areas. imo you being turbo and having traction issues anyway, the svt cams and intake would be a better setup so you make more high rpm power. I have had both, and i honestly cant say one is better than the other but I can say i think my current ported 3l feels more powerful than my old full 3l car and this current car has no exhaust mods yet the full had headers and a full trubendz setup.

The SVT intake would be a huge bottle neck with the turbo. The flow numbers don't lie.

thanx pud. i was thinking of keeping the present portmatched setup. not a big fan of the oval look.

i was thinking that as well. with our platform, power down low is the last thing i need. i cant put the little i have down.

If you want a better way to put the power down, why don't you look at a final drive swap? Why create less power to keep the traction when something like that would help more.

I can agree with that.

I don't know if its the tires I am using but I can't really get em to spin. but Im not launching mine either. however I know I can break cheaper tire free really easy by getting on it hard.

i can spin tires at 20mph and i have bridgestone potenza RE070's. but i think it has a lot to do with throttle response, and how much it jolts the drivetrain when i mash the gas. the turbo setup would put the power down smoother, but you'd still think first, second, and third gear would be easy to spin through once it spooled up. maybe i should look into some tire options :D

that was in the plan as well. is there a howto somewhere for that? or am i gonna have to take it to a tranny shop to get it done?

Ask LivinSVT. If you have a tranny question, he is the guy to go to...did a fantastic job on my transmission. You can even ship your tranny out to him if you want.

i never skimp on this car by any means. but too much money has gone into this car. i dont think i wanna spend more to ship the tranny to him to install it. and trust me, i'd love to:drool:. but my sense of reason just wont let me:shrug:

i just stated my opinion of things, I have owned both, I am not going to get into a debate on this.

It is smart to not get yourself into a debate you're sure to lose. Split ports are great on 2.5s. em on a 3 liter.

Send your trans to Livin, get the Zetec FD.

Leave the oval port manifolds, you'll love how the car drives. Trust me!

As I CLEARLY stated above I have owned BOTH, wait till I get this car I have on a dyno I'll leave it at that.
