"THE" Official 2010 Fall Dragon Run...Oct 7th thru 10th!

No. Those are peeing gloves!
Roger, you take great pictures of your own hands!

Now how could I have done that:shrug:

My gloves have been cleaned and conditioned many times since "Pee-gate"

Josh, the gloves are tradition...I'm all about tradition, but I will say, they'd be better suited on a wooden 3 spoke old school steering wheel mounted to a certain Daytona though!!!

Were about ONE MONTH AWAY:cool:

I went with a leather wrapped steering wheel. Really never have liked the look of a wooden steering wheel, except on a boat. Im trying to get bodywork done and maybe a shot of Featherfill on it before you all come down. Maybe It wont be at the paint shop when you all get here.

I had a wood grain steering wheel on my old 1980 Olds 98.....

Lots on the table!

Lots on the table!

Even this late, there are still people "up in the air" about going. Matt (DukeofSho) appears to be going with us and staying with Hectour and his Dad, but isn't on the "who's going" list yet, hopefully he adds himself to that soon just so its complete and up to date. Hectour is still in talks with Ken (founder of Protege' Garage) and he's a good guy, really good guy who needs to get away from it all too. Jerry with the EVO last year is also not on the list yet, but is going again and bringing his better half, so right there is another 3 cars, give or take. Not sure if Jerry has gotten a cabin in the area or plans on staying at one of those motels down on route 68 and I-75, heck, he could call Dixie and see if "something" is available still:shrug:

Next up is the plans for Friday night, this is where it could get a bit tricky. Josh, one of the original 3 to start this up for us (Eric and myself are the other 2) might be able to host our group, yeah, all of us. He's going to find out if he's on or off that day for his shift. If so, here's what we need to do IMO. Instead of going out to dinner Friday afternoon we head out to his house, its within the hours drive, so no biggie. Once there we'd give him $5.00 a head to cover the food and drink. Now this is NOT for sure yet, Josh has to first let us know his hours that day, then be willing to buy all the food and drink (drink as far as pop, remember, we're driving here) I'm thinking brats, burgers, chips and pop, simple. While we're there we can see the mighty Daytona coupe' as well, something some of you really wanted to do a couple monthes ago when we first got this going. If Josh does host our group, it would be greatly appreciated I'm sure:cool:

Now, if Josh CAN'T host us, this is where it can get tricky. I for one wanna run the Dragon at night, its only what, 3 years in the making:rolleyes: I say we eat in Robinsville after running the Dragon, everyone will be together at that point. Once we're done, we decide who's running the Dragon at night and who's not. In the group of who's not, there has to be atleast one person with a GPS and/or someone who knows they're way back to cabins. That being said, try and keep the group of cars together, maybe a couple GPS guys staggered in the group to keep it even smoother:shrug: I don't expect everyone to do this, it just isn't that smart anyways, but I really wanna do it! Not only the challenging road is what I wanna experience at night, but just being out there and taking it all in in the pitch dark would be awesome, especially if there's noone else out there, a religious experience I bet! LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN THIS GUYS:wizard:

Lastly, this weekend I'm going back home to meet with the guys from xceedspeed who went with us last year ("The Don", Jim and Joe) I'll see my buddy Derek later in the day but we'll be talking to the noobs face to face so they know what they're getting into, as well as to check out their rides to see what they're all about as well. I have a pretty good feeling about this group, just like I did last year and I couldn't have been happier with the guys who came out with us last year.

So, after reading all of this, if you've got any comments, questions, concerns....bring it:cool:

I have also been warming up for the dragon this past week, driving on roads in the Ozarks near Branson...

...in my Explorer...

...with my wife in the vehicle...

...who is not a fan of spirited driving...

...and gets car sick easily...

...so I guess all I have been doing is adding to my need to take some twisty roads in my CSVT.

Also remember I will be staying in Pigeon Forge and not with you guys in the cabins. If my brother-in-law does not join me I will have room for someone in a pinch.

Bob, we'll be looking for you out there, but we end up towards the end where there's a clearing and a large grouping of rocks sticking out of a mountain, can't miss it. There's also a bridge and lake right there, so I think you'll find us....oh yeah, just look for about the only straight away on route 129, not to mention 25-30 cars there too!

Roger, I have never been a supporter of a night run do to safety concerns, but now if we do it at Honda Fit speeds, that may be ok. I still think I might rather be relaxing in front of a nice fire by the time the sun goes down after a long day of hard driving. I'm not against it at all though and you should definitely do it having talked about it this long. I just hope you're ready for chupacabra!

Guys, I will be starting night shift that Thursday night. I work from 6pm-6am. If you guys wanted to come around lunch time on Friday or Saturday I will be up around 11AM. Maybe just maybe the Daytona will have a decently prepped body with seats in it so we can do some cruising through the neighborhood.

bah, its no worse than running around the back roads of Kentucky at night (there are plenty of roads that have sections just as bad as the Dragon, just not for 11 miles, and most have a speed limit of 55MPH ). I do that all the time, and I have ••••ty sealed beam lights on the VR4, just have to pay attention and go at your own pace.

Hey Matt, since you appear to be going with us, go on ahead and add yourself and your guest to our "who's going" list. I talked to Hectour and your staying with him and his Dad. Your addition will put our group to 22 cars before I get the final, complete list from my trip back home this weekend with the xceedspeeders, alumni and noobs alike. To quote the one guy from "Revenger of the Nerds"....'ITS GOING TO BE A GREAT YEAR!" 25 cars looks to be the number we'll have, not to mention those who are supposed to meet us out there.

Where is this list you talk of????

NM I found it. Looks longer then the SZ list!

I just found a new set of star specs on ebay. I won the auction, and should have the tires by Monday. The best part is that they only cost me $375 shipped for all 4 new tires. Hawk HP+ pads go on next weekend, and if I have time I may consider some sort of cat delete/test pipe mod to make the car a little louder.

I will be heading up the night run. I have ran the Dragon a few times at night in the past so I am willing to do it again.

Hawk HP+ pads go on next weekend,

See if you can get Axxis ULTs instead. When I was looking they seemed to be far better liked than Hawks and with some savings as well. I've loved them since I put them on my Si. Initial bite is crazy! A little dusty though.

Thanks for the tip, but I already got the Hp+'s. They were on clearance really cheap. I had them on the CTS-V and they were awesome. The only complaints I have found are that people don't like them because they are very dusty and make noise. I didn't mind the dust and noise, because they bite so good.

Maybe next time then. They are fantastic pads. Great performance, quieter than your used to with the Hawks, and just as much dust. My wheels are black by the end of a week. Most of the guys who infrequently track who have tried both Hawks and Axxis come back to the Axxis. Not that the Hawks are bad, but for the same (if not a hair better) performance for less money the Axxis ULTs are hard to beat. I tracked mine and thought they were great until my fluid was on the verge of boiling. Oops! Frankly I'll buy these until I can't get them unless they go up drastically in price.

BTW I say infrequently track b/c those that go more often tend to have a dedicated set of pads. Just an FYI.
