this is what i got from ford fleet thanks to pelle
If they were available, I would have one already.......
I dont believe VIN numbers are in order of production, so the production sequence number really doesnt have anything to do with it.
Best you can do is e-mail ford customer relations and ask them for the total production of ford contours. Ford does not keep record of options, so you can subtract the total number of SVTs produced that year and then you have to use something like the statistics on autozone to estimate the number out of what is left that was equipped with the zetec or duratec, manual or automatic.
Maybe if you did enough homework you could find out production numbers per month, find out what the days they were producing contours, and then estimate your production number based upon the date on your door. But that is the best you will do.
Speaking from my limited knowledge, research and my personal experience, even a "true production number" doesn't necessarily mean anything. I know with the Typhoon, Syclones and Sonoma GT's the production number doesn't mean it was the order the truck was made or came off the line. Just because my Ty is #2298 doesn't mean that #2297 was completed and rolled out before mine. It is on record that in fact this wasn't the case. Higher production # trucks rolled out sometimes hundreds of trucks before the respective lower production numbers did. FWIW
i sent a email to ford so hopefully they will help
Don't bother Ford with this petty stuff, you have to be kidding - right?
