how to get non svt prodution number?

I appreciate you assuming thats what I meant. :nonono:

Then why would you think a 3800 is a good idea for an engine swap just on the basis of the amount of horsepower you can make in it?

Quit backtracking and trying to argue your way out of stuff. You have been saying some of the dumbest stuff I have ever read wherever you post. Just stop. I don't even want to read your response about why you are getting picked on because instead of reading your mind and ignoring what you said instead of filling it in with something right.

FIND

if you type zzp or 3800 in google theres alot of parts for the series 2 3800 supercharged motors and it has 240 hp stock easly increased by a pully.
3.0l duratec 200 hp or so stock

but with either motor theres traction problems witch means you have to get over them with wider tires/racing slicks, stiffer shocks would probly help also

im not trying to argue my way out of anything, i just didnt know how ford set up the numbers like i said in a earlyer post. im sorry you think my ideas are stupid but thats you, like i said earlyer a forums to share ideas and get help and help people

Ummmm.... I know quite a bit about 3800s.... look at my sig, I happen to own a car with a supercharged 3800.

Once you get over the traction problems with the contique, you have serious driveline problems. The transmissions break, and then once you have the transmission so it wont brake, the driveshafts break. It is not as simple as just putting on wide slicks.

I am not saying it is a stupid idea, but for it to be worth anything, you would have to have a MUCH stronger drive-train involved as well, and well, for the work you would have to do just to put the 3800 in, you could have spent your money on fixing driveline problems.

Also, 3.0L duratec is 200hp stock. NPG turbo kit can easily make it MUCH more, and would probably cost less than you would spend buying an L67 and trying to get it to fit. Just to give you an idea of the trouble that would be, I will go outside and measure the engine in my bonneville tomorrow afternoon when I am done with classes.

Also, honestly, before you spend a LOT of time debating what other kinds of engines you can put in a car, I would work on having the money to afford that kind of stuff.

I'm not just trying to put you down, I am trying to share information with you.

i have the same bonnie as yours =p i did some quick measurements the other day when i was sick just so i wouldnt be board out of my mind, but from what i got it would fit dont think it would be as tight as the fieros but idk yet. my bonnie had tranny problems untill it was rebuild, i think most people who have series 2 use the 4t65e-hd Transmission if there pushing alot of hp but im sure it could be beefed up. i am working on geting the money i start my new job tomorrow, still wish i had my old one though 10 bucks a hour was nice but the people were total d bags

all im doing is just sharing my ideas is all

Whats the point? are you going to get a number graphic for your bumper that says 1,023,487/1,400,820?

Why put a 3800 in a contour? Since your talking about putting more $$ into your car than its worth, why not go for a 5300 LS4 V8? 305hp stock, well over 300lbs of torque, HD tranny and it is made to be mounted transversely. (just sharing info here)

carpepoon

we all ready talked about the prodution number all ready like i said in earlyer posts i didnt know how ford set up the numbers

Why becuase i would like to try something diffrent like everyone else that wants to do a engine swap, more parts for the 3800's and it tests my skills and its a damn good experiance

a 5.3 may mount transversely but i dont think it would fit, the 3800 will be tight in the engine bay

If I had a nickle for every person who registers here and immediately starts posting about what non-Duratec (or 3.5L Duratec for that matter) engine they were going to put in their Contour just to be different, I'd have enough money to actually put a 3800 in a Contour.

I know it's going to sound harsh, but anyone who's been around here for more than a couple years is pretty jaded about these kinds of things. The platform has been around for 16+years; if someone was going to do it we'd have seen it and taken pictures already. However, I'd love it if you proved me wrong.

Because everybody does the 3.0L swap....a 3800 is something nobody else has done in a Contour/Mystique before to my knowledge and if they have I would be willing to bet there are very few. Never in any of my post did I say drop in a 3800 because you can make big HP or mention HP as a factor for doing an engine swap. If anything I said adding HP can and would cause more problems then it is worth. You must have missed that when you were busy not reading my posts.

I never said I was getting picked on, didn't think I was....learn to read. If you don't want to read what I am responding with then why do you keep doing it??

I'm done, buh bye now.
..... I'm bored of this.

...but yet you are still here. :nonono:

I can understand your point of view completely. This isn't a new platform that people are trying things on for the first time. Mostly everything that could be done has been done. However I do like that last part of your post. That's what I was saying with mine....I am all for something different and proving the masses wrong. Every once and awhile conventional wisdom needs to be challenged. People will always say it can't be done until it is.

You should have added another nickle for every noob that comes in here and says "yeah, I know all that, but everyone just says it cant be done, someone has to come along and prove the masses wrong, shake things up, challenge conventional wisdom," cause every noob that says the first part, will always inevitably say that too. Or they will say "but I want to be different, anyone can buy a cheap readily available 5.0, do some redneck fab, put a few bolt ons up, and have a RWD 11 second contour, I just want to be different by putting in (insert random engine here), and I am sure that I can make that bolt right up if I believe hard enough, and I am sure I will never have to figure out how to do a standalone ECU or figure out how to get everything working, because once I weld in those engine mounts I will make 1,436,829 BHP and everyone will be jealous of the $2000 car my daddy gave me so I could make it to and from my part time job at burger king"
