Pwntbywombat 3L Build Thread

Come on... is that for real^^^^? And it is going in a black SVT? - I hope you really like it. I am not trying to be mean but I think this is a joke and I have to see this installed to get the full effect I guess.

I did do it as a joke at first, but I don't know. I kinda like it. If i put it in and hate it, just pull it off and repaint it. I do like the blue block and red heads though, those are staying.

Thats weird, because when I pulled the heads. They were like glued to the block with this black compound on the head gasket.

the factory head gasket is a weird black rubber. it feels like dried black RTV silicone. its on each side of the gasket and the gasket itself is two thin pieces of steel. you don't have to use anything harsh to get the black off the heads. don't use anything besides some NAPTHA soap (that's what they called it in the 60's lol. it will break down the gasket stuff it works great)

you can use many things on them bukuzi plates. i used ultra copper silicone (the orange looking stuff) it will withstand a little more temperature than the black stuff. i have heard elsewhere that the red stuff that shogofast used is the way to go. you don't have to fill in the old injector valley unless you really want to. i don't think it affects flow very much as its not really an obstruction, because the air passes down through it and not against the flat part of the plate. good luck on the build.

I'm glad folks are behaving in here, this guys obviously not very old and this is a pretty big project for his age.

I say good for him.

who cares how he paints it

Thanks for the words of encouragement KAOS, as requested here are pictures of the motor all together. The only thing bolted back on is the oil pan with a shiny new gasket, everything else is just set in place. I haven't decided what color to paint the covers...I'm stuck between silver and blue... thoughts?

When we get a nice day up here in crappy PA, hopefully we can get the 2.5 out, grab the timing cover and pulse wheel, and get this build finished. :) ...then comes the swap itself...

when is the motor mount going to be put on? Too late now but it would have been easier when the heads were off.

Other than, you're moving right along.

I still think blue with stars would be the dogs dangles, though you should just get parket car to make you some white vinyl ones since it sorta looks like taping stuff off for paint isn't your specialty....

it's mine though, w00t

might actully try doin the uim white and then doin the red with wide red pinstripe too, would eliminate the need for taping it off......

Yeah, the paint keeps leaking through the tape. I'm going to touch it up with a brush and see how it turns out. I don't know how crazy I am with the idea of putting stars on it though. Haha

well thats an interesting way to get the 2.5 out

usually folks pull the whole engine as one piece, then start taking stuff off

makes no difference though

Good work on the porting and prep work. Now that you got the old engine out, you can start on the most frustrating part. Trying to keep all your nicely painted parts clean and unscratched while you put everything back together.

Watch out for the hard coolant line that goes across in front of the engine. Hands do not fit in there very well to get everything aligned and back together and clamps on. I think the best bet is to loosen the radiator so you can move it forward that little bit. But, maybe that is an area only I struggle with.

Your pulling the motor with a rope?!?!

Nice hoist though... I have the same one. :)

I thought the same thing, but thats enough rope to shoot a bondage porno, and fyi, me and a friend can pick up this engine, I've supported half the engine (while on the lift with a chain) with a 300lb ratchet strap.

and for me, the radiator would be one of the last things to do, but yeah, this thing does have a snake nest of coolant lines
