Carlisle 2010 discussion

Yeah real sweet spot...:nonono:

remember, this is what was offered to us in order to keep the club together...at some point, folks should make a different choice about expressing so much negativity and maybe reflect on the impact it has on the rest of the club members who attend.

granted I've only been to one Carlisle before, so I've missed some of the bad times you guys have had.
but yeah, the complaints about parking have me fairly puzzled.
I'm attending to have a good time with new and old faces, support the platform and enjoy a slew of FoMoCo's finest.
I hope everyone is able to have just as good of a time as I plan on having.

x2. That is probably one of the only reasons I am going/will continue to go. When I last went, I think it was in '07? The year of the SVTOA reunion...We parked over in that area and I thought it was a decent spot. Seeing as the food and bathrooms, vendors are all down in that area.

Pretty sure that is the last row on hill and in the back. It is right near an exit, campers, and ••••ters...Pretty sure that is the un-used overflow spot... The spots are right by the last row to climb up the hill and is where all the gunners go to rev up there exhaust to fly up the hill to get attention.

Looks as though the campers are behind the yellow section. Invitational Parking is behind the blue section. Not sure what that means.

how early do you all expect to arrive at the fairgrounds each day?
I think I read that they give out the goodybags starting at 9 am, so safe to assume the gates are open around that time?
I remember the traffic getting into the fairgrounds gets piled up quite a bit from the last time we were there.
I don't recall exactly what time we rolled in though.

Any suggestions on what time is best to head over from the hotel from you more seasoned vets?

I believe gates open at 6 or 7. Im not exactly sure. On Sat, (depending on what happens friday night) I'll prob be out there early. I think I might have to wash my car to get the bugs off the front end. I really don't have a set/planned schedule...seeing as this'll be my first trip by myself. Im just going to have fun and meet everyone. :)

Kim, the parking thing as i recall it.

a few years ago they moved the SVTs off the hill and split the group in half. This was because the SVTOA president wanted all the SVTs together for the SVT reunion. we even had a few people sign up to park over there, but they basically forced everyone to park over there. Well they grossly underplanned the space needed for the mustangs and lightenings. they asked us to move our cars and we basically refused. they wanted to put us over in the overflow area, about where we are going to be now. they got mustang owners to move by comping them entry the next year. this offer was not made to us. the kicker was that some regular focus where parked with the SVT focus.

then the next year they just kept the same parking arrangement and kept all the SVTs together. So it sounds like they where about to do the same. so here we are again, basically being set into the overflow area for parking. I don't see why we could all be back over on the hill like we always where. granted the SVT area is nice and close to everything and level.

Its pretty funny if you think about it as we have to have one of the more rare cars there. right, to get 20 SVT Contours out of 12,000 made .... and its like its not important compared to the mustangs, that take up over 75% of the show field area, but with good reason of course. But then again the parking issues are not just related to us either.

So i am not crazy over the parking either, but I do like that the group will be all together. But as with Spring Zing, its about hanging out with everyone at the location. To bad the mess drove some away and the numbers in attendence are dropping. it was cool to have 25 cars and a big group of people.

Gates open at 7:00. If you are there at 7:00 you will definitely be the first Cougar there. I recall LUCA and her husband getting there around 7:30. I always like to get there early just to beat the traffic. That I-81/Highway 11 interchange can get very congested.

And were left, all the way left, in the row you can't completely see.

I think that is the same general area where we were back in 07. I know i keep refering to 07, but that was the last time I went. Besides, we'll be close to hear the 5.0 have some get-up to get up the hill. :D

Either way, I'd rather be where they put us now instead of over uptop the hill. No one wants to make the hike to see cars that far. And I sure as hell don't want to walk down and back up that hill for a bathroom and one of those Ham&Swiss cheese sandwiches. Especially if it's hotter than hell out.

touche :D I'll be leaving Dover,DE around 930 and on the road by ten. I'm shooting to get up there around 12ish-1pm. I can't really do anything until Kim gets there, but I'll be there. Hopefully I'll be able to swing some 17s for the weekend. LOL

well you can go hang out at the showfield until I arrive at the hotel.
I'm hoping to be at the hotel by noonish. I'll definitely text you when I arrive.

Hooray! haha Of course it matters!

btw the Non-Svt is washed

so is that god forsaken subaru...

and the Triumph, well sort of, you can't wash out forty years of British Leyland

I am happy that we are in a group again. I just liked in other years where we were next to Grand Tourinos, or around the Foci and Tauri or Tauruses? lol

Are there any other Non-Svt besides Me and Brapple? Any Mystique? Do we have at least one SVT of every color coming? Those are the important details!

This is my dad, him and I are bringing the SVT if it matters.

Ah, makes sense. I only saw three "SVT" cars, so I didnt know. What class did you register in?

That's the plan, except I might just blow your phone up the whole car ride up. Driving that long alone sucks, and my iPod can only do so much.

From that list, it looks like you and Brapple...but his sort-a looks like an SVT, so you'll still be the oddball out.

I'm excited.

(picture removed)

CF  What hotel are you staying at?
