What did you do to your Contour today?

New trunk struts and Koni adjust last weekend, then just had a new ignition installed and bought an extra remote. Next will be a complete suspension rebuild with new kontrol pros, custom rear boxed LCA's, urethane bushings.

Got her running Jerry...my '95 'Tour. Accel coil going intermittent on me. Back to the FORD OEM coil and life is good!! So much more fun than driving that Ranger of mine around, not to mention 20mpg vs 32mpg!!

That's a long time being off the road- what did you have to do to get her back on the road?

I have owned the car ten years...five years ago I wrecked it..took me two years to find all the parts..in 2011 I drove it for I think a week but it still needed breaks and wheel bearings and it had an electrical issue...it was almost winter so I parked it....I lost interest in the car...didn't have the money to do what I really wanted to do with it...well this year I got interested again and got it going...think I'm just gonna drive it this summer and see what happens

Glad you got her back on the road! Post pics!!

Good job there - good to see the interest coming back!

Mine's a winter garage queen. Glad spring is finally here! I took it out for a spin today. Found some new roads in town, filled the gas tank, and went through touchless car wash. Got home in time to garage it again before the rain started.

I changed the weather stripping on my passenger tail to hopefully fix the leak. Also shined up the tires after I gave her a bath and filled the tank.

Glad she's running well again Bill! I bet you are loving that MPG boost from the truck! Lol!

Dropped it off at the shop. Yesterday on the way home from work, it sucked down half a gallon of coolant and left a nice puddle under the passanger side. I couldn't find it when I climbed under the car and didn't have time to deal with it today.

Just bought a white generic 1996 GL 4cyl, 188840 miles from a friend ova friend. A hundred bucks (US) and drove it 12 miles home. So it needed front wheel bearing. That was what I was doing. But when I finally got the strut all loose the spring was broken. So I call my junkyard to pull me one; whole strut; and when I got there it was not right one. So he starts telling me mine is not a 1996 then. Well making long short, it was 4:30 pm so he couldn't pull it today. Gives me the dumb customer routine, get the vin #, make sure you have a 1996, (again) and call me in AM with all that information and we'll pull it. He went out to look at a countour and tells me again, "that's off a 1998." ( Now I were a Ford transmission guy for 12 years and previous to that a GM heavy-line and diseeeeezal specialist.) But I don't know what year I have. Any way the one they pulled was a Taurus. That be what we did today for my 'baby'. And tommorow too eh?

Told you Jerry.....told you!!! LOL This is EXACTLY how I drover her and always got 30+ mpg to/from work, on I-205. Yes, much better mpg than the Ranger. But you know what, only 2mpg better than your SVT!!!!!!

Don't get hung up on this finding a spring/strut assembly for your '96. Change out the entire strut, as it sounds like you were going to do, with a '98 or newer strut assembly (with spring). The diff is the lower spring perch was changed in order to accept a different style spring.

Took the cover off and drove it for the first time since November. Also removed the aftermarket keyless entry and cleaned up some wiring.

Felt so good to get back in it again :)

I never doubted you, Bill! :) I doubted myself actually having the self restraint LOL!
