What did you do to your Contour today?

Dropped off the head at the machine shop, picked up the head from the machine shop. Ordered a Felpro head gasket and Victor Reinz head bolts.

How do you like the sound with the magnaflow? I am wanting to make mine louder... I was thinking glass pack in place of the resonator but maybe I'll go the magnaflow route.

I love it!! When I first got the car it had a glasspack where the resonator was and it was raspy but not to bad then I was stupid and removed it because of the little rasp and it was 10x worse. So I installed the magnaflow in and sounds really good no.rasp and Nissan sounding exhaust!

Nice! Is it a decent amount louder than stock?

Baked my headlights, pulled them apart. Started installing pojectors, HID's and angel eyes... waiting on parts.

Replaced fuse 24 to make my brake lights, cruise control, and power to my OBDII port work! Wahoo, back to my BT reader and Torque.

you don't leave a charger on it all the time?

Usually I drive the car more than a handful of times during the winter so there is no need to keep it on a charger. Would take it out when the temps were above 30 and the roads were dry.

This year I didn't take it out once. Too cold, too much snow, always a mess on the road. This battery is at the end of it's life anyway, about 6 years old.

I've got a Die Hard battery maintainer. Comes with a pigtail you can leave connected directly to the terminals and is small enough to be under the hood and allow it to close (maybe not latch but close when parked) and also has regular charger style clips too. No matter how long the car sits it is always ready to go :)

Told you the magnaflow would make it sound sweet!!!

Indeed haha sounds 1000 times better even if it is considered a muffler. Atleast the guy at the shop told me that but I told him I wanted it where the resonator would go. Not like it would hurt anything anyway .

Sounds sweet! Are you using a how to for the projectors and angel eyes? I would like to do something similar to mine.

No how to, pretty straight forward as far as disassembly, remove all hardware and rubber. Bake at 275-280 for 3-7 mins, pry. Bake some more. Pry and then they come apart. Going to really have to modify the reflectors to fit the projectors I ordered. I don't think they make them any smaller than the ones I bought. At least not for the price. Going with H1 HID's 6000K and white angel eyes, I have four angel eyes but I think I'm just going to put them on the high beam reflector and not over the shroud of the projector. I've got an extra set of pre98 headlights I've been hacking apart to try to fit ES300 projectors, not sure if I'll ever finish them though.

Deyes-

Thanks for the quick walk through! Sounds like it will be sweet! I would love to see some pics when you're done!

I have a Battery Tender Jr that plugs in the socket above the car. I keep it on all year round. Getting it out is always hit or miss. BTJr has the pigtail setup as well. I actually got the Diehard as a gift but had no place for the unit with it being midways along the length of the cords. I think it hangs, but then the core were too long. The BTJr unit is actually the plug and you have the same total length. Different strokes I guess.

Well me and my brother were looking under the hood of my contour SVT with a spun bearing. I'll be getting my 2005 3.0L Taurus motor soon and will be doing the swap within the next month or so. So we were just looking under the hood talking about stuff :)

Installed a new horn, Fiamm Freeway Blaster Low Tone. I think it took 2 minutes. Possibly the easiest part I've ever changed on a car.

My stock horn didn't work, but I had the understanding that it was originally a High Tone Fiamm. I like the sound of the Freeway Blaster Low Tone, Loud enough without being obnoxious or totally wimpy. I had considered getting the matching High Tone and running both, but couldn't justify doubling the cost when I felt the single horn would be sufficient.

Now lets hope I never need the thing.

Fixed my leaking trunk... Also did brakes on my wife's 99 Beetle but that wasn't a contour so I guess isn't related... :)

I also spent some time under the hood explaining parts and workings to my 13 year old son... Some good guy time and bonding.
