GROUP BUY: Duraflex Mirko Splitter official GB thread

I have a brand new mirko, never installed or painted that I could fit up to a mounted SVT bumper to highlight some major fitment issue areas with pictures. I'm glad to see progress on this for you guys .

There isn't a concern of design around the foglight buckets, like stated it was a concern of fitting tight up against the bumper and the edge of the mirko to align with the fog light barrel opening. As a newly made piece I would hope that in general a flush fitting piece is standard practice. As for the wrap around, if you look closely it can be determined that it may do so, but i certainly would check off on it unless there was a picture. Especially if it was 1 of 2 major concerns.

From what I can see I think the fitment is good. I can understand some are a little wound up over it, as some owners have possession of an older style mirko and would hate to have 2 poor fitting ones ( I know I wouldn't). I think if we can get some better pictures of around the foglight barrels and the wrap around. I think it will show that it is truly a nice piece.

Another concern is that it appears the the part that runs up into the grill opening extends past the inside lip of the bumper. This will need to be flush, having it over extend may prevent the lower mesh from going back in. This is highlighted in Mike's picture on the inside of the left circle, very right side

OK guy's, I just want to make sure were on the same page. I just wanted to know if you guys are good though with the same look. As long as we are just talking about the actual fit around the foglights etc then i'll let them know to make sure we want the lip to fit tight around those areas. These parts are not in the US, this is the first lip they have made and want to make sure it is what we want before starting production. I will tell them to get better pix and as mentioned check or make sure the fit is really good in those areas.

Sounds good Pete. I'd just like to see a 4-5 decent quality pictures showing the splitter from angles all around it so we can see the wrap around on both sides as well as the fitment on the sides, fog light area, and grill. With that to look at, assuming everything is in order, I think we can give them the go ahead to produce these. This of course is again with the assumption as you mentioned earlier that if we receive them and have fitment issues they will go back and fix the issues and produce new parts at no cost to us.

I sent an e-mail but no response today I will call them tomorrow and see what I can find out. I will ask that everything fits tight and we get pix of the back as well. Again, if we have fitment issues they will fix them as I previously mentioned. We most likely wouldnt even ship them out until they are test fitted here.

Talked to them today and I stressed to them how important it was to have the splitter hug the bumper as much as possible. They said they would make sure it does before it goes into production and will provide me with addition pix. I'll post more info when I get it.

Looks like a quality piece all around. The trouble area, once again, is the fog light area where the lip molds around everything. In this picture you can see me holding the lip up against the bumper and still you can see that the molding is larger than the actual fog light barrel/grill part of the bumper and you can see it by the red of my shirt in between the corner of the lip.

Joe, if you can take better pics of this it would be greatly appreciated.

My splitter is going to be Carbon Fiber. I will not have the luxury to cut my lip up to make it look perfect. It needs to be perfect the first time it is done. Im sure this can be done for everyone else as the ED material gives in more.

Thanks for the help and updates Pete.

Guys here is a pic they sent me, to show it wraps around the back. I have also sent a couple e-mails voicing your concerns about it fitting the bumper tightly. I showed them pix with arrows marking what needed to be done.

Back looks great! now we just need some photos of the fog light area and we can start production and get our Lips! From the back I can already see the fog light area is going to be messed up.

I'll have to come back on later today to comment on this with a marked up picture, but you can see that there appears to be a large gap between the bottom of the grill and where the splitter comes over it on the right side of the picture just above the piece of wood holding the bumper out. This would also lead me to believe it does not follow the fog light opening very well either. This is why it would be good to see a close up shot of the fog light opening to confirm whether this will be an issue or not. It may sound like I'm being extremely picky here Pete, but since we are getting a new part made with a new mold it makes sense to fix these issues now rather then trying to do it later. Thanks.

Here is my markup photo. This is the section I was referring too. This makes me believe that it will not line up with the fog light opening and will present a gap around the corner as the bumper flows from the fog light opening to the grill opening. This is exactly what the original Mirko splitter did. Again a picture from the front close up to this area would show whether this is an issue or not. Thank you.

Yeah I seen the gap, but trust me (lol maybe I should stop saying that just incase they mess up) But yeah I pointed the out to them and I told them it needs to hug the bumper tightly and have no gaps before it goes into production. I will see if I can get any new info. Thanks

Pete

Say Pete just check'n in. Don't suppose you've heard anything more on this? Thanks.

Mike, nothing yet. Lol, between these lips and all my current Vette stuff, I think im pissing these guy's off with all the calls. They get upset I call so much and ask the same questions, but hell I want to make sure stuff gets done right the first time, and sometimes I dont think they understand that. As soon as I have new info I will post. They did tell me they got my email telling them to correct the gaps and make sure it fits tight.

Well thanks for the update. Are you still thinking they will have parts for us late August?

Couple new pix they sent me today, looks a lot better, any other pix you guys need? Let me know asap so I can either get more pix or we can tell them start producing them.

I guess it would have been nice to see a picture from the side so you can see how it rests up against the fog light opening (how tight it is against the bumper). With these pictures it looks like it follows the contours of the bumper really well , but you just can't tell from this angle if it is resting up against the bumper or not. The old ones had a tendency to stick out at these points. However I may just be to picky and you did emphasize with them how important it was to ensure that it sat tight against the bumper as well. In any case it looks really good I'd say lets get these things rolling if no one else really has the same concerns that I mentioned above.
