Awd>1wd

It's actually going to be a spacious cage install. There is so much volume in a new beetle before you remove the interior.

For a mild steel cage, it's $150 per point. Most cages have at least six points. These are not typical bolt in cages. These are built to a specific rule book.

That's actually a pretty good price on a custom cage. Do you do any FEA work to minimize wasted steel?

Right now I'm just looking in a rule book and applying it directly to the car. My next cage will be in a lemons car which is less of rule book than just about anything. Auto cad is in my computers near future. Then I can really be cooking with fire when it concerns a roll cage. I'll be building my own roll cage without any software. Pro tools sells a decent program, but it's only for windows. Boo that.

Components? Th car is completly stripped and the IT rules are as simple as they get. The steel is getting delivered tomorrow, and I pick up my brand new pro tools model 105 bender from the factory on Thursday.

Oh. Phew.

Good luck with the business. man! If you're naywhere near as good as I hear you are, things should be going great!

Your not missing anything. I had the entire awd system in my car minus one axle. I didn't have a lot of little things done like motor mounts and brackets. I pulled out the motor and gerbox a long time ago to finish the car, and hav done nothing to it since. I was just talking aboutgetting back on this project last week. Once I get back from my trip to ny, I have a two day fishing trip. Then on Wednesday, I'll start work back up and make the harness bar at the same time.

so did you ever end up starting on this again? I've been waiting forever LOL.

I have question you may or may not have answered (I don't remember but I don't think you did.......being I don't think anyone asked it)

Anyway, I was told the jag's system is totally reversed from normal driveshaft rotation. that true?

I think he dropped this project a while ago, he had a for sale thread and everything.

Really? Man I must have missed that one... over on his thread at NECO he said he was going to come back to it when he had time to do so...

IIRC he lost his space at the garage he was storing this at, so he was selling it off
