yup

It was a thought. I think some laptops use a "smaller" IDE type cable. I am guessing too much pressure on the HD are causing the pins to misalign or something.

Either way, this is not something that I caused... I'm hoping they will just send me a new laptop for my troubles and I can have it by Wednesday when I'm going out of town

Yeah... they "can't" send me a new one either. So they gave me another flippin service request number and a fed ex pickup (had to argue to get the shipping covered).

I may just sell this one for super cheap (fully disclosing what it's been through too) when I get it back so I can move on to a different computer. :ponder:

0 problems with our Vaio.

Have you (or anyone reading this for that matter ) heard anything about netbooks? I am intrigued by there portability and battery life. I mainly use my laptop for internet and light picture editing. Even if they aren't super fast, they could get what I want done and I could always use my desktop for the rest. :)

For example; A cheaper one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220443
A more expensive one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220385

I think I like the cheaper one better, just throw another Gig of ram in there
