will i loose power with a hollowed out cat

Jeeze FIND, you are active in this forum, but usually in the wrong way. I would like to know how many posts you have are just arrogantly challenging or criticizing people? A lot of the threads you involve yourself in go completely off topic and you just sit there and flame people. Why don't you educate rather than look like an a$$? People can be wrong, we're only human. You must be bored or something and enjoy taking your daily stress out on people in cyberspace..
 
Anything that FIND finds incorrect he corrects it the best way he can. By informing the person right away of their errors in words. If they challenge..thats when his patience runs thin...because he knows he speaks from experience and thinks people should just trust him.Which is obviously not the case in this situation. This new guy does not know his amout of knowledge.(right or wrong)

This happens with all newbs and other members trying to make space on here as persons of intellignets. You kinda create that space letting people know who you are and what your made of. Lets just say...you get a nickname rather quickly. We had a few on here..and when they leave others come right in and take their place.

And for the exhaust argument...both sides have good views and some well are off a bit...and i won't even explain why :cool:

Lets just chill out and get along. trust me...your health and sanity is more important for living then some argument on a car forum:shrug:
 
sence there is two cats if i get two fake CCs on that web site i posted with 2 mufflers i will be good but just save the cats and bolt them on when i get inspected or just takeing out the per cat would be a wiser choice

and FIND is a very inteligent person .me and him have accually had a lill disccusion and he helped me out alot and hes just very blunt and alot of peeps dont know how to handle it

Toddw There is only 1 cc. And Harry it is not my intention to take any ones place. I do not think I am the most intellegent person on the planet. toddw asked for help No one answered so I tried to help. That's all. Since there are people with more exp I will just keep my mouth shut in the future. Find I tried to download firefox and my comp wont let me. (Something about administrator rights) So fir now the speelin most cintuue.

I was speaking in general...that includes everyone. I was not pin pointing you..but just every person that joins here.

CC = cat converter? No there are 3 total. 1 front manifold, 1 on rear manifold. and 1 main cat after the y-pipe. So 3 total

right, he meant main cat though, since the op mentioned replacing 2 cats with the fakes, which wouldnt make sense for the precats.
 
OK call me a newbe or whatever. I do know about engines, and some exhaust from racing dirt track cars.

Anyway, back to the cat question... are the pre-cats part of the manifold, or do they bolt to the manifold? I haven't looked. I've seen where people say to cut them out and replace with a piece of tube, by welding new flange on them. I can do all that, but if I can just knock out the honeycomb stuff, put in a mil eliminator and will it sound bad?

I'm sure mine are clogged. 130k miles, keep getting a 420 code etc. I'm just looking for my options here.

And oh yeah, opinions are like A***(les, Everyones got them and they all stink. LOL! >:)

The pre-cats are part of the manifolds.
Quick tip....Wire coat hanger and a drill :) It will hack them apart!

There's many causes for the 0420 code, more often than not it has nothing to the condition of the precats. But if you want to waste a day gutting them go for it, you won't lose anything other than some skin off your knuckles. The precats were a useless POS design IMO .

I'm not sure how the precats look on these cars, but usually when I gut cats I just break up the stuff inside with a long screwdriver. I remember reading on here that someone put a wire coat hanger in the end of a drill and went to town inside the cat though....
 
Ah screw it!! Ill give it a shot, and if i feel lazy ill just order that fake cf. From the first post that way u just cut and weld:cool:

If you retain your main cat, the sound barely changes at all. Whether or not you'll notice the difference depends on the rest of your exhaust setup.

While we're on the topic of illegal activities, I wanted to warn everyone that just because THIS federal offense is open for discussion, do NOT assume that others are too. Also, whatever you do, do NOT mention the misdemeanor offense of beginner's computer hacking. THAT topic is strictly off limits.

That's good to know, but from what I can find, COMMERCIAL software piracy is the felony. "The law defines commercial pirates as individuals who willfully copy software for commercial advantage of private financial gain." That's a tad beyond "beginner's hacking".

It is not illegal to modify your exhaust system or catalytic converter. It is illegal to operate the car on public highways with a modified catalytic converter or without one. If your catalytic converter is defective, you can remove it. You dont legally need to replace it as long as you meet the emissions standards that the vehicle was required to meet when it was manufactured. FYI, in most cases, you dont need the precats as long as you replace the main cat as well, since most aftermarket or high flow cats also perform better.

Dont be so butt hurt. Private financial gain includes using software without purchasing a license. This is a financial gain because you did not pay to gain intellectual property of value. Though, before you start looking into software piracy laws, I would suggest looking into your own states criminal and civil codes as well as federal criminal code, since software piracy is almost always federally prosecuted, and not wikipedia.
