will i loose power with a hollowed out cat

My personal experience follows:
I gutted my cat, it sounded like crap, I didn't notice any difference plus or minus with the ol butt dino.
Rammed a piece of pipe through it to improve the flow...I think this is what everyone is referring to....also sounded like crap, no difference either way (butt dyno again).
Changed to true duals (with a dual cat), sounded better, but this is the only time I noticed a difference and I "think" I lost power....again butt dyno...but it IS a very old and wise butt!
Put back on my stock (or close to stock) SVT exhaust pretty sure I gained back power, sounds great...all is as it should be.
Either way, we are not talking serious HP gaons or losses here.....
In short, I have tried just about everything from different resonators (glass packs etc.they only rattle and rasp) tpo practically straight through pipes...with little or no effect.
If you want serious HP gains you need to look somewhere besides the exhaust.
Forgot to mention I'm running shorty headers, so I have no precats anyways.

Well, I was under the car for the first time and found out that I have Mil eliminators on all of the post cat o2 sensors so I must either have purposely gutted cats or they just deteriorated over time. The numbers in my sig are dynod with these "gutted" cats.

Couldn't agree more. I wasted a lot of money on my exhaust last year and came to the same conclusions
