which IM for 3.0?

so it looks like this 1K (brown black red) resistor I have should do the trick, if it's not too little resistance for the EEC to recognize as not a short.
Wait a minute... unless I'm missing something, adding resistance to the circuit is going to give the PCM a colder-than-actual reading, when you're looking to make it think it's hotter.

You may be overthinking this whole thing man. It's likely to not even start from getting too much fuel. However, if it DOES start, considering the adaptive capabilities of the PCM, you might be okay.

I say get something you can datalog fuel trims with & try to start it up. If it won't start, you're probably f*cked and you'll want to give up on it until you have the money for a tune, (continuing to crank it to try and get it running is a good way to bend a rod or two). On the other hand, if it fires up & stays running, and the PCM starts pulling fuel fast enough, you'll probably be okay... even to drive it lightly. The capabilities of the adaptive programming surprise EVERYONE that isn't intimately familiar with the strategy.

no doubt, I have an XcalII, thats why I didn't realize I needed extra money for a tune, thought the Xcal would let me tune it myself.

I should be able to pull air/fuel ratios with the Xcal right?

and the resistor would be replacing the IAT, not going inline like the things on e-bay. it's janky.

yeah but on the chart you have higher resistance is lower temperature, unless i am reading it wrong. the highest temperature has the lowest resistance. so if you add resistance you are making it think it is colder out.

edit, didnt realize it was a 1k you were putting in, which is less than the chart. still i dont think it will really make the difference you think it will

so the resistor didn't work. you guys think the ultra low resistance could be causing it to believe there is a fault and defaulting to pig rich? it just cranked till I broke the starter. the starter was questionable to start with so I'm not surprised. need to get this new starter on. rain sucks

I'd say there's a good chance that the PCM thinks your IAT has failed and is ignoring it. Looking back at the chart now, you should have tried something that would give a more realistic reading. Either way, the PCM wouldn't go pig-rich for only a failed IAT sensor. It's probably just not able to adjust enough for the 24lb injectors to get it running. Consider yourself lucky if you didn't bend a rod.

agreed about the rod issue, we shall see. there was really know way for me to know whether a 3.0 with 24lbrs and an se computer would start without a tune or not since I haven't ever heard anybody run this combination. so you'd say a tune and it should fire right up?

I would pull your plugs to see how bad they're fouled and look down into the cylinders to make sure there aren't puddles of fuel. Let the cylinders dry up & clean or replace the plugs. THEN I'd say it should fire right up with a tune.
