Wait a minute... unless I'm missing something, adding resistance to the circuit is going to give the PCM a colder-than-actual reading, when you're looking to make it think it's hotter.so it looks like this 1K (brown black red) resistor I have should do the trick, if it's not too little resistance for the EEC to recognize as not a short.
no doubt, I have an XcalII, thats why I didn't realize I needed extra money for a tune, thought the Xcal would let me tune it myself.
I should be able to pull air/fuel ratios with the Xcal right?
and the resistor would be replacing the IAT, not going inline like the things on e-bay. it's janky.
I'd say there's a good chance that the PCM thinks your IAT has failed and is ignoring it. Looking back at the chart now, you should have tried something that would give a more realistic reading. Either way, the PCM wouldn't go pig-rich for only a failed IAT sensor. It's probably just not able to adjust enough for the 24lb injectors to get it running. Consider yourself lucky if you didn't bend a rod.so the resistor didn't work. you guys think the ultra low resistance could be causing it to believe there is a fault and defaulting to pig rich? it just cranked till I broke the starter. the starter was questionable to start with so I'm not surprised. need to get this new starter on. rain sucks

I would pull your plugs to see how bad they're fouled and look down into the cylinders to make sure there aren't puddles of fuel. Let the cylinders dry up & clean or replace the plugs. THEN I'd say it should fire right up with a tune.so you'd say a tune and it should fire right up?
