When people ask you what you drive, what do you say?

Great question!

I fell back to calling it an SVT. When I would say contour, people would either not know what that was or simply give me the "oh" and then change the subject.

With "SVT", it's not lying or calling it something that it's not. To the non-gear heads, it's a good enough answer. To actual gear heads that ask, "What kind of SVT", I was able to drop their drool filled jaw with a long winded mod list :cool:
 
I tell them i drive a car built by the slow vehicle team :laugh:

Always makes people laugh and ask questions.:shrug:
 
I say Subaru :shrug:

If I happen to be with friends, they will interject and inform people that I also drive a Contour and that for some reason I'm obsessed with it. Then I have to go into the long-winded explanation detailing why I would even choose to drive a 10 year old Ford, let alone be proud of it.
For the sake of my sanity, I've just stopped mentioning the car to strangers.

LOL! nah, i'm not. here it is in short... Born in africa, spent most of my childhood in London UK, moved to the states when i was 18, and voila! here i am:). luv u too:). its ok. everyone thinks i'm white till they actually see me.:laugh: ask joey. he'll tell u:laugh:
 
Still the cool dude you will always be too - I did just learn that you were born in Africa though and you have been all over the world! Awesome to hear and it makes you a well cultured individual :cool:.
 
I've been getting "hey nice svt" lately and have to go through the sad drawn out process of explaining it's not an svt. Then I have to explain why the wheels say "SVT" if it's not an svt. Then I have to explain why it says "mondeo" on it. :blackeye: Then I say "Fock you! You drive next time!"
 
at a recent car show I over heard and was told by friends that my car confused alot of people. It of course has the SVT UIM on it but I also had my best non-svt award from SZ07 on the car. Of course it has the body kit too .... won best domestic at the show :laugh:
 
I've always said "I drive an SVT Contour", but since I never drive it anymore, I say BMW 540i.

For some strange reason, I don't get the same reaction when I say one car vs the other. What's wrong with a Ford Contour? :shrug::laugh:
 
I reply "Contour SVT". If I get any snickering or sense any negative comments coming I quickly ask first "and what do you drive?" After their reply 9 times out of 10 I can tell by car they say it's an automatic. I then continue "ahh an automatic, at least mine is a 5 speed. I could never drive an auto, so boring".

Shuts them up every time.
