Was it hard for you to sell a SVT-C?

Ive been on a mission to sell my SVT-C ( sad :( ) and it has been a very difficult task. It seems that most people do not know what this vehicle is or just pass it over.

I think the price is right and for the money not much out there that offers what the SVT-C does.

What gives !

So for those of you that have ever sold one, how long did it take ya to find a home for her?

it's really hit or miss, location is a big factor to. My friend is looking to buy a CSVT right now, but his dad doesn't want to go out of state to check anything out unless it's very close, because there are alot of them out there that are right, but his dad doesn't want to go that far. Me personally, if it's a car i want, distance doesn't matter, but his dad doesn't exactly feel the same.

my brother has had his car for sale for some time. seems to me, only a small nitch of people want a csvt.

Definitely has to be the right price to the right person at the right time...

I mean, any ol high school kid will buy it since it looks modified from the factory, but it has to be cheap enough.

I'd say another target (if the car is in really good shape) is a buisinessman that wants a "cool" car that won't run clients away.

I'll tell you what, a businessman driving around in an SVTC, MS6, or Altima SE-R is sharp to me!

I am buying mine from a CEG'er, if I approve of it when i see it in person. From the photos I have seen and price, I don't see why I wouldn't. For me buying one, location was a huge factor. I didn't want to drive all the way to MI from Northern MN, I found mine 3 hours away in the Twin Cities. That is about as far as I want to go.

I actually sold my 99 MTX Cougar to buy a SVT Contour (CEG Member) and it was hard to do even though the CSVT I bought was heavily modded and well cared for, my Cougar was sexy as hell, ran perfect, moderately modded, and super clean inside and out. It turned heads everywhere I went! Ultimately sold it after having it randomly vandalized numerous times and when it got broken into that was the final straw. It was just as well, a 2 door coupe, slammed, with body kit was not going to cut it with Minnesota roads and winters.

"Naturally" the buyer of my Cougar was the mother of a 17yr old kid who totaled it in a head on collision doing 60 miles an hour with 2 friends in the back. Lucky for him no one was seriously hurt. He did not own it for even a month before totaling it (sigh).

Fornetti14 is right. The right buyer will go out of their way to buy your CSVT if you make it worth their effort. It was alot of tedious work for me that involved a 1500 mile flight and drive home with all the added expenses that come along with that but for the right car, I'd do it all over again.

its especially hard in this market. LA is FULL of used cars, so many of which are modded. for a few grand you have quite a selection of decent cars to choose from. most people with that little money are teenagers or 20 year old dudes and they want a car that is going to impress their friends and the bytches.

when i was that age the csvt had just come out! had i really known about them i would have bought one new instead of my accord. ah well, i got one later for cheap and sold my accord for a lot. :D

Wasn't too difficult I guess. I knew what iw as gonna get for it before i put it up for sale, but i listed it with a higher price and let it sit for acouple of months to see if anyone would bite.

Of course not...

Once i dropped to the $3500 range it sold in a matter of days.

I'd love to know the mileage and mods to your car. Even though mods aren't gonna add value unless it's something substantial like a turbo or something - otherwise, unless your car has less than 50-60k on it $4500 is way too high.

The car is completely stock visually, the only engine mod is a Custom Superchips tune I did ( I work for Superchips Inc ) the car is very clean interior wise and has normal wear on the exterior. It has 99K miles and the service was done recently.

I have also lowered the price to $3999

What else is out there for 4k...?? not much. These car's are pretty damn hot on thier good days. You have to have a certain buyer, one that likes ford, and a sedan at the same time. 200 horses was alot in CSVT's day. Now it means nothing. You just have to pry their hands off the Honda first lol.

When I was shopping for my SVT last fall/summer, it took me a long time to find a clean low mileage car. I saw lots of SVT's snatched up at prices higher than people typically sell for here.

Mods seem to be a price killer as many people may take them to mean that the car has been driven unreasonably hard or that repairs may be more involving/costly.

The cars I saw go quickly had the following elements in common:
- no mods
- photos of a super-clean interior
- photos of a shiny waxed exterior
- responsive seller with lots of information available
- adult seller; if you're young, don't 'talk young' to the guy interested in your car

It helps to market Contours in ads as not a lot of people know what they are. There is actually a huge market for these cars, but the market doesn't know about them. I'd emphasize in an autotrader/ebay ad that it's got 195hp, european handling, leather, etc...
