"THE" Official 2010 Fall Dragon Run...Oct 7th thru 10th!

Well let us know what you plan on doing Bob either way. Hectour is leaving his house at 5 and meeting us down at the oasis on I-80 around 5:30 a.m. and then we're heading out. I think we'd get there around 11:30 a.m. our time (12:30 p.m. EST) Dan said we'd really like this place, I love food so we'll see!

Oh, the meeting time is 11:30 - noon central? I assumed that would have been local, or eastern, time. That makes a big difference.

11:30-noon CST, since we're in our time zone when we leave, let's just stick with that until we get down to Tennesse. Most cellphones change time automatically, but yeah, since its like 5+ hrs from me, that would put us there sometime after 11:30 a.m. CST.

Its a good thing you noted that was central time. otherwise i would have been waiting around for an hour.

FWIW, I could make it from my house outside of Louisville, to my apt in Glendale heights in about 4.5 to 5 hrs. with the cruise set between 70 and 75. I could also do that on a single tank of gas in the Zetec. :D

also, if anyone has any questions on how to get to the restaurant just call. I know both Hector and Roger and have my number.

Alright, Rodger I think we need to figure out where Chad and I will be meeting up with you. Obviously I would like to meet somewhere that won't be to out of the way for me. I also think we will have to time it correctly too. I am in Muskegon, 49441.

I will be leaving central Florida around 5am, and that should put me at Big Pie in the Sky pizzeria in Kenesaw, GA around 1:30pm to meet Billy for lunch. Let me know if you will be anywhere around my route and we can meet up and drive to Tellico Plains. I should be getting to the cabins around 5pm.

PM me if you want to work out the details.

Roger, a few points for you to ponder...

First thing is that you'll be in the eastern time zone within 30 minutes of leaving the oasis, so it would probably be easier to talk in terms of eastern time for everything except your meeting/departure there.
Second, your math skillz are a little off... 5:30 am CDT start plus 5 hours = 10:30 am CDT (5+5=10) or 11:30 EDT.
Third, it is about 290 miles from the oasis to the restaurant.... assume an avg speed of 65mph and 290 miles takes under 4.5 hours, and I think Indiana's speed limit is 70 in some places (at least it is on I-74) but you need to account for hitting Indy just after the morning rush hour.

So, I am thinking that if you and Hectour leave the oasis as planned at 5:30 am CDT, you will be arriving at the restaurant somewhere around 11:00 to 11:15 EDT unless there is some unusual traffic or you make a long stop for breakfast somewhere...

Do you want to reconsider the meeting time back to the originally assumed 11:30 am EDT??

Then we could plan to leave the restaurant by 1:00 to head over and meet the Michigan group near lexington about 2:00 or farther south near Richmond about 2:30... just a thought...

Nice. Not looking forward to waking up that early on Thursday. :(

Hey man saw your sig. I was wondering if you did any research on the 160 degree thermostat. Engines like to operate at the factory designed temperaturse to ensure the fuel is burnt properly. The engine actually likes to run where it should more than being cooler. Most computer programs are temperature sensitive and will adjust timing, fuel mixture etc based on input on engine temp.

Running at a lower temp will also make you run rich and will not yield more HP. I think your car runs stock about 185*? F At that temp your stock computer may go into closed loop mode which would retard timing, and that is where you will not gain power until closed loop is open.
Unless you have a aftermarket ECU or piggy back system, I am just curious, because I hate seeing things go wrong.

Cheers

My car was dyno tuned. Plus, after this run she goes into storage till next spring.

That reminds me, I can bump up to 100hp shot. I totally forgot about that.

Awesome, sounds like you're on the right track. You're going to Tail of the Dragon correct?

Yup, I just finshed my front brake/suspension setup. Time to work on the rear. The only problem is that I don't think I have the time to remove the rear cradle to replace the trailing arm bushings with ES ones and box them in. Oh well.

Attention!!!

Attention!!!

I just spoke to Dixie last night, later in the night and confirmed our trip. While I had her on the phone I asked her for the hell of it if there were any more cabins and yes, there is one more, cabin #2, my old cabin. So, anyone who was looking to go still and wasn't sure if we had room, there is a cabin left. This one is a one bed with full ammenities.

Matt, did you say your going to hate waking up Thursday? Did you see the pics I posted about 4 pages back:shrug:

"Mr.Hockey" number of days to go, we're finally single:cool:

Are there any "Dukes of Hazzard" fans out there? If so, you may be interested in this event going on in Gatlinburg the same weekend we are in the area...

from The Hazzard Run

The 2nd Annual Hazzard County Run will take place on Friday, October 9th through Sunday, October 10th... The event will kick off with a gathering at Cooter’s in Nashville on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, after some more carrying on at Cooter’s Nashville we will depart for Gatlinburg. We will travel I-40 East, stopping in Crossville, Tennessee for a bit (that’s about half-way) and then head on to Cooter’s in Gatlinburg, arriving late afternoon to early evening. We can party-on there Saturday Night and all day Sunday with everyone taking off when they need to.

I didn't even know about the Cooter's in Nashville, but I've been to the one in Gatlinburg, went there the first time I went to the Dragon back in 2003. I met Cousin Cleatus that weekend, very cool place and you could drop some serious cash there as they've got period correct collector items!

My plan is to be with the group as much as possible Thursday - Saturday, just returning to Pigeon Forge to sleep (and do the night time Dragon run on the way back from Tellico Plains as part of that return trip). I have a gas station next to the entrance to my resort, with at least 2 car washes within 2 blocks, and a grocery store just a little farther down the road so I'll have easy access to most anything I need. We can iron out the details when we get there, but if you were still planning on 2 sittings for breakfast, I might be able to just join the second group Friday morning (and Saturday? we'll see how Friday goes...) after a nice scenic early morning trip over. Now, if the group wants to crash the party in Gatlinburg on Saturday evening, I'm game for that since it will be a shorter drive back for me afterward. Sunday I'll probably head for home straight from Pigeon Forge but we can plan to meet up somewhere north of Knoxville on I-75 for the rest of the drive home.

Here's our simple plans for the extended weekend:

-Thursday (around 4:30-5:00 p.m.) the majority of the group will arrive. Some will be there the day before, waiting for us already. We'll un-pack, relax and then head out for a little drive out on the Skyway, going to the N.C. border and then turning around.

-Friday: stagger our breakfast arrivals, eat breakfast, meet by the "Entering Cherahola Skyway" sign/and or get gas and split up the groups into PHOTO and NON-PHOTO groups and head out. Everyone will meet at the end of the Dragon (as we call it) hang out and get ourselves together and head for dinner. Once dinner is over we'll split up into those going back to the cabins and those runnin' the Dragon at night. Campfire set up by the group going back to the cabins.

-Sat: stagger our breakfast arrivals, get gas and meet by the sign and everyone head out together (faster cars first, slower cars last) Run it straight through and meet at the end. Head back to the Tellico Plains for dinner at The Tellica Cafe'. Campfire set up once again!

-Sun: no real rush for breakfast, head up there whenever, eat and BS with each other before we head home.

There is "wiggle room" ofcoarse but this is what we usually do each year anyways. The idea for splitting up the groups on the first day is so those who are noobs and/or wanna take pics and not slow down those who don't can do just that without any issues, everyone happy. We'll all meet up at the end of the Dragon like usual and no, I'm not hangin' out listening to any college football games either:rolleyes::crazy::laugh:

Remember, 9 days to go guys!
