The "OFFICIAL" 2009 Fall Dragon Run Thread!

I spent the afternoon getting my car ready.

1. Painted the rear calipers black to match the fronts

2. Changed brake fluid to ATE Super Blue

3. Changed Transmission Fluid

4. Changed Rear Differential Fluid

If I am not too sore, I am detailing it tomorrow.

Just make sure Randy that when you top off that brake fluid down the road that you use the same brand because IIRC it can't be mixed with anything else...

KEN GRIFFEY JR NUMBER OF DAYS TO GO!

BTW, what does everyone think about splitting our groups up a bit so we don't get "bottlenecked" anywhere? I was thinking 3 groups of 5 or just 2 groups period:shrug: I don't want it to be a regional thing either, so throw your idea's out and lets set this up:cool:

well i would say that since there is at least 4 of us that have run it 3+ times that we should have 2 groups. each group has one of us veterans leading and trailing.

I think we also need to make sure that everyone that is going has at least a couple others phone numbers so that if something happens and you cant get anyone over the radio, you can at least attempt to call someone.

Are there really that many of us coming? I kinda lost track of who was going to be there. How big of a group are we?

Any pics of the car Dan:confused:
it doesnt look like its going to happen before the Dragon, although i think i am going to try to get it eventually still. i test drove it today and :drool: is all i can do.

anyways, here are a couple quick pics.

I've got 5 cars coming down with me, then meeting Hectour and his buddy Jerry which makes 7 and also Dan in Kentucky (I thought you moved Dan:crazy:), but either way, that's 8 and then the rest of the group coming from the south and east and west of the Dragon:cool::cool::cool:

I am school in the far western part of Kentucky so i will be coming from there and will just meet everyone at the cabins.

I am going for sure, but I am not driving my car. I'll be riding w/ Trey.

Sorry your not bringing your car Bonnie, God knows we could use a couple more CSVT's out there to keep the flag flying, but it will be good to see you again, I think I've only met you once and that was some time ago! I will say this though, once you get out there and see what its like, your going to wish you did bring it or get it ready for next year;)

So now that everyone see's how many cars we've actually got, its easy to understand why breaking our run into 2 groups makes alot of sense. We can talk about it here or discuss it Thursday evening when we get back from our "improv run" that we always seem to make, but let's atleast make it to the N.C. border and then turn around, what do you guys think:shrug:

DINO CICERELLI NUMBER OF DAYS TO GO!

Polished and waxed the GTI this weekend, plus I did my girl's car. My fingers are still sore even this morning. God I'm a wimp.

Next it will the Contour's turn, as I may be selling it once we return from our little tour of the mountains.

What did you use, any pics of the after results:shrug: I'll probably slap another coat of Klasse SG on the car before the trip, it doesn't hurt to have a good build up of wax on your car as your hitting all the bugs and IIRC the water in the car wash isn't filtered, but I don't know that for sure, either way, stay protected and don't forget to wax that windshield with whatever your using, unless its something like Klasse SG, in that case...NO WAY IN HELL DO YOU WANNA USE THAT:eek:

You are gonna laugh. First I used the Zymol Cleaner Wax I got at Target. Yes, after some research I realized it is really Turtle Wax. Doh. Then I applied some MG's HiTech Yellow Wax Liquid. I am a complete novice at car detailing, but I took my time and did a decent job. I'll likely apply one more coat the weekend before we leave for added protection, and most likely Rain-X the windsheild.

No pictures.

forget the Rain-X, get some Aquapel. you wont have to apply it again for 6months to a year and it works better than Rain-X.

Kinda bummed I won't be able to wax my car before the dragon. I can't wax it for 30 days after the fresh paintjob. Hope I can put painters tape on it to protect it from scary stuff flying at it.
