Group shot?

Group shot?

I know you guys have seen this while heading towards Deals Gap while on 129, it runs near that huge pipeline and I thought it might make for a great group shot, although there's a limit as to how many people can go onto the bridge itself:shocked:

What do you guys think, just to have something different for this years trip!

As these pics clearly show, its easy to carry alot of momentum into a turn and if your car gets away from you a little bit, the chance of correcting it are slim to none! This is not mean't to scare anyone, talk down to anyone (consider the source, I'm NO expert and NEVER claim to be!) or discourage anyone, but rather to make you guys aware that if we go on this road none of us, except for Trey, have EVER driven this road and we wanna respect what it is, a hell of alot of fun once we go on it and try to know it to the best of our abilities!

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Having thought more about the Devil's Triangle run it has occured to me that our group is HUGE (DUH:rolleyes:) and we wanna keep everyone together so noone freaks out about being lost, I wouldn't want that and its something all of us should consider:shrug: Now I'm thinking a fender count at the new gas station is one place where we can do this, another is the clearing about 2 miles past the wall looking over the Dam, after that I don't know because I don't know how were getting there from the Dragon, so maybe the latter isn't even an option. Trey will come on here soon enough and let us know, but one thing I know is this, its worth the trip for sure from what I've seen but its not worth it if we can't figure this out though, so please, if you've got some input, chime in, THX!

Getting "Geeky"

Getting "Geeky"

Check this out, straight from the official Dragon site, anyone know what this guy is saying....really:shrug: Its too much for me to understand...

Dear DragonHeads

Had the opportunity last Saturday to cruise out your way and partake in the unique challenges of "the Dragon's Tail". Couldn't get my car out of second gear, so I thought ... "this is pretty tight." Having a fondness for juggling numbers I tried to put "318 corners in 11 miles" into an easily understood format - the simple average. Granted I took broad liberties in standardizing corner geometry, but I think the results are interesting.

My idealized corner geometry is very simple:

1 - turn Entrance is straight of x distance

2 - turn Radius is constant - also of x distance

3 - turn Exit is straight - again of x distance

Using these "optimized" arbitrary proportions,

an "Average Dragon's Tail Corner" would be defined as follows:

1 - turn Entrance - 61 feet

2 - turn Radius - a 120 degree arc of constant 29 foot radius,

total radius length - 61 feet

3 - turn Exit - 61 feet

4 - the turn Entrance and turn Exit legs would be at a 60 degree

angle to each other

5 - Average Apex-to-Apex distance - 183 feet

6 - Straight line distance from Start to Finish of the 11 convoluted

miles - 6.7 miles

So, if the Dragons' Tail were "standardized", you would have

318 corners 183 feet apart, each with an Entrance/Exit angle of 60 degrees

and a corner radius of 29 feet.

THAT IS TIGHT.

He is basically saying that if you tried to put 318 equal corners in 11 miles, each corner would be 183ft apart with an entrance and exit angle of 60 degrees and have a radius of 29ft.

You could take Friday off and come on down, there's room for you and its cheap, $10.00 a night cheap:cool: How far is it for you?

not sure on the distance...I am about 6 hours from Bristol, TN if its anywhere near there. I would probably be able to take 77 just about the whole way.
