SVT vs SHO

but with drivers being equal the car with more power is going to win every time...so what is your point exactly...a good driver in an sho isn't suddenly going to make up for that much of a difference in power period, unless the other driver is just totally incompetent....

but you're assuming that the drivers are equal.

a 96 camaro z28 is about 3400lbs with around 285hp @5200rpms and 325ftlbs tq @2400rpms.
a 96 mustang gt weighs in at about 3000lbs with about 215hp @4400 rpms and 285 ftlbs tq @3500rpms.
where as a 93 SHO is about 3000lbs with 220hp @6200 rpms and 200ftlbs of tq @4800 rpms.

where that power is made is more important than how much is made. if all of your hp is way down low in the power band then it useless, especially in a drag race. more power doesn't mean faster, and if you think that more power means faster you're delusional.

i'm not going on past this. the OP asked which is faster stock for stock a CSVT or a SHO. i say the SHO.

I always thought 96-99 mustang gt 4.6s had more power,i cant believe they only have 215 bhp i just googled it and went into shock lol.....i still like that body style the best out of all mustangs

And now you realize why no one is ever afraid of them if they are stock or with minor mods. lol.

again your post shows you don't have a clue what you are talking about...did you seriously just try and say that making hp low in the power band is useless in a drag race????you could not be more wrong....with all the hp and torque lower in the powerband it gets the car moving off the line faster(which is the purpose of drag racing.....a car with power and torque lower in the pb will get the car out of the hole faster, and thus get it down the track faster...by the time an sho gets to full power that z28 will already be across the finish line...

i'm afraid you are the delusional one my friend...please explain then how a car with alot more horsepower and torque, and weight within a couple hundred pounds is not faster?????what do you consider faster to be then exactly????i'm not reffering to top speed all out going on the interstate or something,as gearing and top speeds come into effect there.....but in a drag race or other side by side racing a car with quite a bit more power, and weight within a couple hundred lbs. is going to be "faster" period....i

i'm not doubting that a stock sho couldn't beat a 96-98 gt as those are known to be weak....but get real comparing it to cars that weigh similiarly and have 50 or more hp and 100 lbs/ ft. of torque more....

Black leather was an option depending on the exterior color. All manual transmission SHO's came with a 3.0. Automatics came with a 3.2. But many people have swapped 3.2 engines into manual transmission cars. I like the blue SHO's with Cobra R replica wheels. My dream SHO would be a Turbocharged white 91 SHO plus like the one in this link.

Sweet dyno pull.
430hp/412/tq. It would take a fully built SVT Contour to run with this SHO.

i didn't know there were 2 different sizes of the yamaha....so they both have different hp output i assume?

so tgo let me ask you since you actually own a gto....would you really be scared that a stock sho would hand you your ass in a drag race or in stoplight to stoplight running(i'm in no way condoning street racing)????i doubt it,even if said sho driver was an "expert"....maybe in a several mile all out top speed race on the autobahn, but seriously in a normal race....

the 99-04 gt's are actually fairly quick.....its just the 96-98 2v that were weak.....the 96-98 motors can be pepped up rather easily though, lots of aftermarket parts available......a simple swap of the 99 up "pi" heads will really wake them up....

no the 3.2 has a little more torque to make up for the ATX. from the factory all MTX cars had the 3.0 and the ATX cars had the 3.2, but a popular swap for SHO owners is the 3.2 into a MTX car, although there have been a couple of people swap the manual transmission into a car that had the auto.

Im not a big fan of the 99-04 mustangs, looks like a transformer or something lol id take one though if i got a deal.....id love to get a 96-98 white with black leather gt w/ cobra front bumper, one of my favorite cars i havent figured out why i never got one,i dont mind low hp numbers keeps me out of trouble.

if you like the 96-98 body styly you'd be better off with a 94-95 gt...they have the 5.0 motor.....though they only have 215 hp as well, they have a little more tq....still has that great mustang sound, and a better engine imo.....my ild 95 made about 225 hp at the wheels with just longtube headers, full exhaust,c&l maf,bbk tb,and a couple other simple boltons...

HP is the same, TQ is upped a bit to made up for the loss in the ATX.

5-speed SHO's with the 3.0 made 220hp/200tq.

Automatic SHO's with the 3.2 made 220hp/220tq.

Yea my moms lincoln mark had a 5.0 it was an auto but it was jumpy when you tap the gas pedal i loved it. I guess they destroked it to a 4.6 to hang better up top like they did with the s2000 i think 2.2 then they did 2.0 lol
