Spring Zing 2010

To recap the road course situation:


  • I tried to get RA. It is $10k for the day. I released the reservation a couple months ago.
  • The Milwaukee Mile has a 1.8 mile road course. There is an idiotic political quagmire (giggity) with the organization that controls the track (which is located at the state-owned fair grounds) that prevents small groups from renting it. Until a few months ago it was looking likely that the track was going to be shut down indefinitely as that same organization owes over one million dollars to NASCAR.
  • The only other track that's even remotely close is Blackhawk Farms in Illinois (about a 1 1/2 hour drive from the hotel). The track has events through SZ weekend already scheduled.
 
I have NO idea how it happened but the Sunday information i hat posted weeks ago is gone....it's been re-posted to the itinerary.

As for friday. I'm working out the kinks and plan to start an interest check for the New Glarus. I will also be including information for the available dyno.

I'm as disapointed about the lack of a track day as much, if not more than anyone/everyone else. We did our best, and unfortunatly things don't always work out, it was one of the two big let downs for Mike and I. The Milwaukee Mile road coarse would have been cake to acquire in 09, but with the politics involved this year with the track it was nearly impossible to even get anyone to respond to a phone call. I went so far as to speak with some of our local SVTOA racers and accuired inside contacts with the track that simply ran us into more dead ends. S&S was supposed to be hosted at the HD museum as well, but they decided another event was more important and bumped us. Out of our hands.

2011, I would be willing to personally reserve RA, but be prepared to pay for it. In addition, I will need to go beyond CEG for participants.

Believe me, we are trying to make SZ as much fun as possible dispite the road blocks we've encountered. With all of the things we've learned durring 2010, we could make for one hell of a 2011. It's been a trying time for Mike and I as this is our first time planning anything of this magnitude, and just our luck, He and I have both hit major snags in life in general that's taken us away from what we'd like to focus on....
 
Like I said if we have SZ next year in Milwaukee,I should be good to go for RA. I'll get interest from the R6/R1 communities.
 
I would also like to point out that the person I worked with at RA was awesome. She took me seriously, but understood when I told her that my car club was small and I was hoping to pull together several groups. I never got the feeling that I was bothering her. If we could have a couple dozen people interested by the end of the year I think we would have no problem getting the track for a day, especially a Friday.
 
the open track thing sucks. not many people are willing to do it, but almost everyone enjoy's watching. unfortunately, this was the first year i was going to have a car ready to bring on the track. there is a track event at BIR spring zing weekend too.... :/

i appreciate all the hard work you guys are putting in for sure... it really is too bad about the roadcourse thing. pole will just have to make up for it in other ways. :D

My post was a joke, as was the edit. You guys are so lame.

Heck, I can't even remember who's joke it was. I thought it was Dave that did it, though. Maybe I have it all mixed up in my head.
