Some Pics from the Race Shop

This is exactly why I dont like it, the hard lines just dont flow at all. Of course, I'm completely ignoring the fact that other than the body kit its basically a stock SVT (at least when Saleen sold it).

I thought it was equipped with a vortech, different suspension, recaro seats, and a short throw shifter as well. That and wheels and a wing.

I don't think it was a Vortech, but it was supercharged. I don't quite know the details, however. You'd have to ask CJ or Todd.

They took the SC off because they could never get it to run right or keep it running. of the other things, nothing really does anything for the performance of the car except the suspension.

so what's striker talking about in saying its a stock svt other than the removed supercharger? i'm guesing he doesnt know that as well.

Well except for exhaust....performance numbers are about the same. (after the vortech got removed) It's the track capabilities that set itself aside from the svt.

And yes they kept blowing motors.....:blackeye:

right harry. its just inaccurate to say its a stock svt other than the removed whiner. just so a newb knows next time:).

no, I knew about the true duals. however since it still had stock manifolds on it (it even had the stock SVT intake piping with a supposed 55mm TB), the gains from the exhaust are minimal.

I have never seen any numbers about how it performs at the track.

the only performance mods that are on it, that im aware of, is the exhaust and suspension (Ill even let you through in the short shifter). lets face it, that's not that far from stock. the only thing that is really special about the car is the suspension setup itself (but even it may not be that special since im not sure what the setup actually consists of, looks like they might be koni struts), and the body kit (which is fugly IMO), the rest can all be bought or made.

so how is it not much more than a stock SVT with a body kit again? other than it was built by Saleen.

edit: yeah, Todras said it had Koni struts with probably Eibach springs so nothing really special about it. I guess the Saleen brakes you wont be able to find but its not like we dont have options for BBKs.

Why was that really?

It all came down to tuning issues.(which they claimed) :blackeye:

I believe it was that and the abuse they probably gave it road/track...while using it as test dummy with that blower on the car. (6cly hates being starved.)

Comparing this car to a stock svt.... This car..with different rims and tires the springs/struts..and rear sway bar with front strut tower brace with upgraded brakes def set itself aside from the svt. Which is why it obviously would do better at the track. Unless the guy whose driving it is a complete idiot.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the body kit on the Saleen?

no. i dont like it either. but its from another point in time, back when that was the style. its really cool though because of the fact that it IS a one-off saleen.

unlike the Saleen focus which is still ugly lol.

I seem to remember back in the day that most of the people on the boards didn't like the kit on the Saleen. I personally like the car overall, but much of that is simply because of what it is, a 1 of 1 genuine Saleen. As for the body kit, not a big fan, mostly for all the "old" reasons, basically that the over design doesn't flow well with the smoothness of the rest of the car. All the hard creases and lines just fight the natural styling of the car, imo.

yep

FYI,some of the other things on the car, custom competition Recaros in original CSVT upholstery, SIX PISTON Brembos on the front, upgraded suspension, one-off 19" wheels, true dual exhaust, "Saleen" instead of SVT on the gauges, Carbon Fiber trim in the interior, trick audio system, and of course the wide body kit. More than just a few "bolt ons".

NOTE: Even though the supercharger isn't there now, there may be one on a very special engine in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

could we get some more info on the exhaust, what mufflers etc? Does it have a cat? And pics/specs on the sound system would be great. :)

I dont think it is special at all. I agree with striker that it isnt impressive at all. I mean any of us can setup a SVT Contour to out perform that car.

but all in all it is the only Saleen Contour SVT in the world.

obviously amyn. lol. the car was setup with a supercharger originally. it just isnt there now. when it had it, i'll take a long shot and say it would outperform any other svt stock:laugh:.

Sucks that the Supercharger was never sold with the car to have someone else take a look at it.

I thought it said supercharged on the trunk for gits and shiggles

And I agree. But what was planned for it and how it was sold is a completely different story :blackeye:. I hope CSVTFGM can throw a supercharger in there and friggen shut us all up.
