Good news! Looks like we've got it figured out. I talked to Shaun at SRP and here's what he said:

Your fine to bend the tab in the instance. What we are warning about is when the tabs are creased by being over bent, say 90 degrees or more...the crease will crack the illumiglo (glowing layer) in the gauges and that is what the electricity passes through. The crack will be so small that the electricity will want to jump the gap and doing this will look like a small lighting bolt, this will heat up in just a few seconds and melt the plastic face causing it to smoke and melt away in that location making the gauge fail.
Now again that is if it is creases, like folding apiece of paper. If you just tuck the tab under the face next to it you will be fine. a slight arc or bend is fine. you can take our faces and bend them to make one side touch the other with out a problem, but if you make that crease you not fine! I hope this helps, and please post this on the forum so others know the issue and what to do.

I've installed mine and they look good so far. I haven't plugged them in yet -- I'm still waiting for the adhesive to dry. I'll be back with pictures later tonight once they're in.

Success! The install went pretty smooth. Although I was short a y-cable to hook it all up, but luckily they gave me two extensions and I was able to splice 'em and make my own.

The analog inverter that came with it has two settings. There's a "dim" and a bright blue. The one pictured is the dimmer one. (it all looks insanely better in person of course)

After seeing Ooklah's pictures, I decided to install the gauges tonight- they were worth the wait.

I had to splice in one of the sets of wires also, there were not enough connectors for all the gauge faces.

They look killer! I wish I hadn't bought all my gauges in Autometer Lunar to match my green/blue glow dash gauges now
No turning back now as I can't afford another $500+ in Autometer

Well not exactly right over and under, I did a practice run on a spare set of gauges. Spray adhesive? Is there a way to install where you could remove them if you needed to?

I used 3M double sided tape to secure the new gauges. They can be removed without ruining the stock gauges.
