Cell phone pic = fail. What I really need to do is wetsand and reapply some clearcoat. There are a few rough spots...
Nah just rough spots. The paint didn't go on cleanly in some spots. I'm going to wetsand a bit, reapply a couple coats of gunmetal with the wheel STANDING UP. I had the wheel laying down flat, and I think a lot of the airborne particles laid down in a poor fashion along the lip, as it is very rough. I'm kind of a n00b at this but I'm getting the hang of itI see, I see. Thats makes sense... I thought I saw some light/dark spots:blackeye:

Well I hear that bit about "spray it how it's going to be on the car," but what happens when you spray, let it dry, and then you install the wheel and the car rolls forward half a revolution? I wanted to get an even coat, but a lot of overspray that went INTO the wheel where it was laying down kinda floated back up and made for a rough surface. I suck at this game. And how come you're the only one replying in this thread you n00b?ALWAYS spray a part in the postion it will be in when it's on the car; that's something people often overlook. Also, do plenty of coats of paint. The more and lighter, the merrier.![]()

...I'm going to do what Brian said. Wetsand just a tad to smooth it out, then apply clear coat. It will be just fine.Either mask off the car and spray the wheel while the car is rollinglaugh
; or rotate the wheel in between coats (45% between coats for 8 coats; 90% between coats for 4). That's my .02
