Name that engine

since the last one was kinda given away i will post a new one :shrug:

Im mixin it up a bit with this one, it came out of a car, might be easy might not.

Ok, lol, I got another one, so I'll put it up.

This could be really hard, or it could be really easy. I had to hunt pretty hard for a pic that wasn't a dead giveaway, but the pic is tough. This engine had a few variations during its life, and was used in a few different cars, so I won't be too particular as to the particular model of car, just the engine "family". And as a hint, most versions of this engine were supercharged.

Rolls Royce Merlin? Were they used in cars?



reminds me of an allison

The pic is actually of a Packard-built version, but Yup, Merlin it is. There have been a handful of cars built using the Merlin, but nothing regular production, its just too damn big. That's why I was vague in my description, lol. Best sound in the entire world is a Merlin at full clip screaming by overhead. Too bad the Allison was never as good; the Mustang/Apache was a dog until it got a Merlin.
