Name that engine

Now you post one.

I thought we needed to wait for OP to confirm correct answer? Anyway in this case I'm very sure so will post a new engine.

This is not an easy one so I will give clues.
  1. Car will be more familiar to Europeans but was sold here in the US for many years.
  2. Was first car I owned, bought used in 1976
  3. and yes that is the gas tank filler IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT:eek:
more clues will be posted as needed

I just found this thread. The first two were easy for me. This one escapes me however.

Silver Bullet was correct, it was a little too easy, but like I said, couldn't find good enough pics of any of the real hard ones.

btw, this one has me stumped so far.

Doesn't appear to be a flat 4. Looks upright. Did the Corvair ever come in a 4 cyl? It's something Fram makes an oil filter for.

**EDIT** Just saw the comment about being European. Sold there anyway. Ignore the Corvair question.

hmm... rear engine, 4 door... sounds like a Renault 10. Only issue with that is I don't think they were ever sold here in the states... only one I've ever seen was imported, I think.

Looks like a Jag I6 in a racecar. I'll let someone else get more specific to get it :D since I don't have another one to post.

Ok, I found another one, so I'll finish my guess :D

Jag I6 in a modded/racecar XKE

As soon as you confirm, I'll post the next one, lol.
