My Modded 2005 Legacy GT

ah, my bad. so take it and get it tuned and it's faster...

wait, don't you have to do that, plus change the engine and a lot of other parts to make the contour compete?

Why do you keep arguing over things you have no no experience in or any idea what you are talking about. First all the talks about clutches and now this. Like Alex said, most of the time a stock WRX will put down less than 200 AWHP, the only reason why their 0-60's are so good is because of the AWD. Up top, they are gutless compaired to a properly prepped and installed 3.0L. Yes it is easy to mod them, yes it is easy to make crazy high hp...but in my opionion they are meh. I want something a little more refined.

And Alex and I make fun of eachother all the time, the man farted in my car before...there was a reason why the interior smelled like tacos and egg rolls.

WRX= can be raced in stock class

3.0 swapped SVT= Highly modified limited production car, Can't run in stock class

see my point?

how does a 3.0 swapped STI fair against your 3.0 SVT?

Are you serious? Do you know how much an STI cost brand new vs the SVT? There was about a $10,000 price difference! Not to mention almost a decades worth of technology.
Highly modified is CSVT#49's build....not a basically stock 3.0L with exhaust work and a builit proof tranny.

But I still don't see how in the world those tires don't rub at all! I thought it was close on the CSVT but that is just crazy.

:nonono:

just give it up kaos

your right, some guys butt dyno is clearly a more accurate way to bench race than by comparing real numbers, WTF

oh, are we using cost now? because in the clutch thread brian only wanted to compare on basis of "level of upgrade"...

yeah, if your poor you can coble together a taurus engine into a big escort with a body kit and throw a couple grand on some bolt ons and maybe beat a bone stock entry level WRX from almost ten years ago...

there's a reason the WRX costs more...

PS:

his tires dont rub because a late model legacy GT was designed with the understanding that people may buy them with the intent of modifying them to go faster.

the SVT contour on the other hand was designed so grandpa could feel better about settling for a FWD sedan because it has a cool badge on it...

ok guys, this thread needs to come back on track.

It is Subaru talk. :) Besides I am sort of in the market for one of these anyways in wagon form. Debating....debating. I am wondering about the sheet metal on these, since the stuff on the WRX was like paper.

really, where's those action pictures?

people here are ridiculous, calling for my banning because I realize a purpose built turbo charged AWD SPO-COM is a better starting place for performance than a FWD family sedan thats almost ten years older in design....

I can haz permission to cross post this thread to NASIOC? I'd love to see some of the comments from the other camp...

Kaos, you'll never convince the geriatric set. The irony of a Contour owner complaining about Subaru quality is hysterical. I guess you get bored when you're not busy replacing engines, differentials, water pumps, dashboards, sunroof motors, repairing rocker rust, or removing water from your floorboards. I loved my ConTique, but a quality car it was not. While I was parting it out, I noticed that it was built with two different B-Pillar covers on the inside. Driver's side was from a Mystique, passenger's side was from a Contour. And the money I spent to keep it running would have bought another one. Now my Subaru, otoh, was built with the correct parts and has needed two wheel bearings and an oxygen sensor in 250,758 miles. That's it.

Now, on topic. I love what you've done with the Leggy. That generation of the 2.5GT is the best, as the current one has gotten a bit too bloated and softened to be youthful. And I've yet to hear ONE good thing about the feel of the 6-speed, though that can be fixed by a short-throw shift kit. As a rule, I hate white cars. But that generation Leggy looks so smooth in white, keep up the good work.

Exactly, thanks you...

my old POS 96 leggy outback 2.5 dohc/slush only had 95hp to the wheels, but the only thing I had to replace was an alternator, ever. it was a good car, the only thing that killed it was a bad case of sleeping driver.

the contour on the other hand, blew a hole in the trans you could shove your head in three months ofter purchase. got that fixed and it lunched a head gasket in less than a month after that. dropped a 3.0 in there and then that engine went to crap in less than a week. I dont think people mod contours out of choice, but rather necessity, as they were apparently designed by a bunch of wonky old british drunkards...

Or maybe you don't know how to drive a car and that is why you blew up the tranny. You also didn't listen to anyone and their advice on how to do your first 3.0L and that is why it blew up. Ironic that my 95 SE has over 220K on the original engine, clutch and tranny. My 98 SVT had 0 problems. My 99 SVT with the 3.0L only had issues with what I did to it or defective parts (i.e. spec).

I will say that the Subarus we owned weren't bad. Had a couple starters go, one leaked oil, wheel bearings went out a bit on them. That is all. Then again they only had like 120 hp, 160 hp and 220 hp at the crank, so you couldn't really beat on them.

I beat on the subaru a lot harder, mostly because it was so gutless. it had a 132mph top speed limiter, but it took a long downhill to realize it even existed...

I'll actually correct myself though, I'd forgotten that I put a fuse in the FWD adaptor and attempted to hand brake the leggy around a turn and broke a spider in the diff. although, it did drive all the way from ATL GA to Gainsville FL with the broken diff without chucking a hole in the trans like the 'tour did easing off the clutch at a red light...

I thought you were trying to convince everyone you weren't an idiot. Stop polluting the thread.

Honestly, I haven't seen him be the pollutant in this thread. There may have been others but...not him.

Now, am I seeing things, or does this LGT lack a sunroof? I wasn't even aware you could get this generation LGT without one. Am I safe to assume it doesn't have leather, either? Another question...have you noticed any scratches on your windows from the regulators?

Beautiful. My legacy just turned over 120k and I still love it.

I have a question for you. How's the handling in the Legacy now that you've modified it compared to your old Contour?

The thread was about pictures of Snob's Legacy, not his experiences with Subaru or his Contour...

Since Aaron hasn't responded since his initial posting, I'll say that no I don't believe it had leather when I drove it last year. It's a nice car though. If I end up getting another job back up north, I will definitely be looking for one as a winter car.
