Hey guys,
I got a buddy who is doing a 3L swap (03 build date Taurus) and is trying to thread on his oil filter but it will not go on straight. Half the filter stops at the block, but then there is a big gap on the other half. We tried another filter with the same result. Any suggestions?

check the threads on the block for any that are flattened or damaged. You may also want to make sure that the whole thing itself is still straight.

Possibly could have been damaged when removed.

pure one purolator p24651 is the shiz. if this is for beans then hes SOL. tell him to buy me a plane ticket.

I could only afford one way LOL

Yeah i dunno wtf is up with this thing, its not like i am forcing it in. I am putting it in by hand. I'm thinking i might just force it to go in straight... hmm?

next choice is to change the threaded niple on the block for the oil filter they are usualy removable... seems odd that two people on here are having the same problem.

Are you using the oil cooler from the SVT on a 3L block? We just bypassed the cooler, and installed a regular new Fram filter directly onto the block. The way the Taurus engine was set up.

Somthing is not right. You can't put on an oil cooler and now a filter?

Yep, the threads in the block are weird. I'm going to be able to get the tubethimg to go in straight, but I'm NEVER NEVER taking it off again.
