My 3L build.

What about the possibility if bad gas? I added some seafoam to the tank about a month ago to maybe help clean it up, there was a couple gallons that have been sitting in the car for a good length of time.

Well if you want to rule it out just siphon the tank and put new gas in. You can use the siphoned gas for a lawn mower... that's what I did ;)

i plugged up a code reader this morning as ive got a check engine light on the dash but wasnt given any codes on the reader. about to head to the store and pick up a siphon to try to get some gas out, replace it with some fresh new stuff.

Just stick a clear hose into the filler neck and SUCK until you see it getting near your mouth then tip the hose into a bucket below the level of the gas tank.

I don't think the gas is your problem....

Well..... that video makes me think you have a serious engine issue. The irregular noise is internal and honestly the timing sounds f'd.

I think they sold you a blown motor . And you said your oil light was on, right?

But man, that motor was too clean inside to have been blown I guess.....

Pull your plugs and look at the gap just for curiosity sake, I want to see them. Note if they are wet with fuel or anything irregular please.

Just the sound is telling me that your firing sequence is goofy too. Check your plug wires to make sure they are in the correct order.

the plugs are clean and dry. i pulled the front bank and turned it over with one in a plug wire and does look like im getting any spark.

"does look like im getting any spark."

Clarify please

Options:

1. doesn't look like I'm getting any spark
2. does look like I'm getting spark

The plugs look un-fired to me :ponder:

sorry i didnt answer your text. ive been busy at work... the plugs do look unfired... try to make sure the 3 main harness connections on the rear head are on and clipped very tight.

sorry, doesnt look. no prob sam, understandable people do have real lives and are not available all the time. ill recheck the plug wire orientation and the plugs on the side. maybe wiggle them while try to start the car.

^ sounds good.

-connector at coil pack
-connector at ECU
-3 connectors at passenger side rear valve cover (I run zip ties across them to hold tight)
-connector at drivers strut tower

Put some anti-siez on the threads of your spark plugs too ;)

the larger black plug of the 3 on the valve cover, was loose this time i checked. seems it doesnt click in well together. so i held it together while had someone start it and do get spark again, but still wont run with everything back together. going to pick up a fuel pressure gauge and see if im getting anything at the rail, i dont think i am.

I asked Sam about that yesterday. Blinks when key is not on in position, when it is in the on position, it stays solid.

half tempted to put this thing up for sale and find another one thats running. ive got a lot of other things going wrong right now and car trouble isnt something i want to add to the equation.

Don't take offense... But are the plug wires hooked up correctly? Also make sure.all the wire harness connections are.fully seated. Wouldn't hurt to put Di-electric grease on the connections either. Double check you're wire connections at the injectors to make sure they are fully seated.

Since you have a 98 you can use a screw driver to press on the schrader valve to see if fuel sprays out when you turn the key. If it does then pull the upper intake and check to see if the injectors are spraying fuel when you crank it (unplug the coil pack).
