Looky Looky... KSport

Alright guys I'll get the pictures up here momentarily. I was at CarCraft Summer Nationals all weekend and then had to take a road trip today for business and just got back. Give me a few minutes here and I'll get them all uploaded.

Also I have the KSports set to 2 turns down from full hard and the ride is perfectly fine to me. 10 times better then my blown out SVT struts. I can't imagine what full soft would be. I have NO problems with this kit. Definitely would recommend purchasing them.

First off a few installation notes...

These actually went in very easy. After you remove the old struts I took carb cleaner and sprayed out the inside of the knuckles removing any rust residue. I then applied bearing grease to the inside of the knuckle to encourage the KSports to slide in easier. I also applied bearing grease to the outside of the KSport bases. When installing this made a WORLD of difference. They were still tight to go in and required some 'light' taps to the bottom of the knuckle, but they slid right on. We started the install at about 7:15pm on Thurs and finished at 5am on Friday with a number of breaks and BS'ing. I'd say total install time would take 6 hours tops for the average DIY guy/gal.

Now on to the pics...

Ok I haven't taken any good shots showing the entire car or from the side of my car... maybe my brother did at CarCraft...

But here are some of the before and after during the install...

My brother got a little to excited with the rear strut...

Sooooooooooo freaking sexxxxxxaaaaaaaayyyyyyy! I need to get some of these! who wants to buy a koni/b&g setup?

So this "new" version is out after there were request for changes. Weren't you the one working with them?

Yes. I was the one working with them. However these changes they did on their own. I did not opt to pay the extra $200 to get the mounting tab on the base of the struts. Plus the bases then would have been steel instead of aluminum.

how much did you spend when, all said and done?

Coilovers
$775 - KSport kit (JLB Motorsports)
Camber Kit
$116.91 - Camber kit ($49.99 EA)
$40 - upgraded camber plates
Subtotal - $156.91
Mounts
$28.46 - bearings ($14.23 EA, I actually returned one and repacked the bearing with grease)
$30.18 - Rear Strut mount ($15.09 EA)
$3.96 - taxes
Subtotal - $62.60
Broken crap...
$29.02 - Rear sway bar end link ($14.51 EA)
$9.10 - Rear sway bar end link bushings ($4.55 EA)
$1.61 - taxes
$3.58 - Rear sway bar end link nut(bottom nut that threads to end link, $1.79 EA)
$0.24 - taxes
Subtotal - $43.55

So if I did my math right...
Grand total = $1038.06

ok, i couldnt tell from your picture, although i thought the mount looked different. i agree, i would rather have the pinch bolt instead of the lock rings. the rings are a PITA to get really tight.

Oh and as follow up to this here is a better picture of the pinch bolt setup...

just to be clear, the photos above are shown with the ksports set on maximum height? how much adjustability do you have with the ride height? i think i am going to buy a set of ksports at some point, i am just worried that with my stock wheels it might be too low for daily driving.

in the pictures it almost looks as low as my koni sport kit

I have the fronts set to near max height (probably only 2-3 more complete turns left). The rears have plenty more room to go. I'm also running 17's.

I'm ordering these soon and it's all your fault hahaha
 I just hope I won't have a prob with stock eo's and a mirko.

I really love the way your car looks! Great stance!

how do these feel? does the steering wheel feel VERY smooth when your turning it? i feel this is the route im going. my ground controls and konis are a mess.

Please post details in the Suspension Review Thread stickied please!

I would be very interested in how the springs compare to, let's say, the BAT springs since you can't adjust the springs(I'm not talking about ride height).

What would be the cons of the bases being made of steel instead of aluminum? Interested in perhaps keeping the mounting tab.

there is no reason to keep the mounting tab. once the pinch bolt is installed they arent coming out of the knuckle. the advantage of the aluminum base is slightly less unsprung weight, although it would be so little weight difference that its irrelevant. you could lose more unsprung weight from lighter wheels.

I regret selling mine, but now that they revised it I am going to be ordering a set very soon. Just have to unload these damn GC/Konis I guess.
