Knock Mod: +1hp for free

I have a 98 mtx zx2. Its stock right now. Its as quick as a stock v6 MTX tour.

Have you driven a zx2 S/R? They are quite a bit faster then regular MTX ZX2's....

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/ford/112_9907_1998_ford_escort_zx2/index.html

"Adapted from the Contour sedan, the 2.0-liter/130-horsepower Zetec coupled with a five-speed manual transaxle propels the 2504-pound coupe 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds, faster than just about every other under-$20,000 car we've tested during the past year. (Don't believe us? Check the "Road Test Review" and see for yourself.) Quarter-mile passes were made in 16.0 seconds at 86.2 mph, quicker than a recently tested '99 Mustang convertible V-6."

I think the accepted regular contour 5spd V6 quarter mile is 15.8 no?

i have driven the s/r a couple of times a friend of mine has one and yes it is faster than a regular zx2 but have you driven a csvt? they are quite a bit faster than a stock v6 MTX contour

I have both a Zetec MTX contour (parting it out now though ) and an SVT Contour. honestly, the SVT doesnt seem that much faster. My Zetec, before the turbo, was close to V6 MTX times. something to think about is the weight difference, the Zetec MTX contour weighs about 300 lbs less than a V6 Contour, and the ZX2 only weighs about 2500lbs, which is about 200 lbs less than the Zetec Contour.

The Zx2 is not derived from the Contour in anyway shape form or fashion.

The chassis is a mazda BG chassis. It's nothing like the contours.

These arguements about what is faster, contour or zx2, Fords two lowest level cars...is frivolous. How much money you have into is what matters. My zx2 $300 of mods: header, udp, and intake put me on par with CSVT's 1/4 times.

My zx2 with $_k worth of mods........

read it again you big goof. ZETEC is adapted from the contour, not the zx2.

put the same type of mods on the csvt...you're back where you started:nonono:

Except my finish build cost about as much as a [very slow] stock CSVT? Including the car cost.

You seem to be missing my point of, put that money into ANY car, and your 'back where you started'.

I was going to post the same thing, but just before I hit the "Submit Reply" button, I refrained :nonono:. Cheaper to purchase a Zetec-powered vehicle and dump money in than purchase a CSVT, IMO.

i'm saying i already have a csvt and have had a zx2 so if you already have the cars why not do those mods to a car that starts out with more hp and tq? like if i had a festiva and a mustang cobra why modify the festiva over the cobra just because it weighs less and is cheaper? you would be stuck with a quick festiva and it would still be gay...or you could modify the cobra and have a nice quick car. my buddy has an 03 cobra and blew half of his engine and he was running 9s now he's got the new engine and is putting on twin gt35r turbos and hoping to get into the 8s i would rather see that done on a cobra than a festiva or zx2...

But what is the difference between a Festiva that runs 9's and a Cobra that runs 9's? I mean, they're both freaking fast, but if it's cheaper to get the Festiva there, then why not start with the Festiva? (this is just an example...)

because it is a festiva:shrug:

The difference is that when you beat someone in a Festiva, they feel that much worse about themselves. Some people understand that, some people don't. Some people "get" the taurus SHO. Some people see "another ugly taurus."

^The truth^

When I go to the track theres usually 5 Corvettes, 15 Mustangs, 5-10 SRT-4s, 5-10 Civics that don't actually race, ect. That's pretty dry to me, I can't help it if I like variety.

One of the motivating factors in my build was exactly what was mentioned above.

It's more fun to build a sleeper to me, no one expects anything and when I race all those cars I'm going to be so happy for many things. Who isn't going to think they can beat me, it's just an escort right?

PS: One of the last time's I went to the track there was a Festiva racing an reallll old VW Golfish car, they got lined up next to each almost everytime. They were both N/A and running mid 10's. They were nasty little machines to watch and I absolutely fell in love with the Festiva.

if you need 26 psi to compete you should probably start with a different car:shrug:...26 psi if you arent running 9's you should stop:nonono:

Do you know anything about turbos whatsoever. Probably not, because if you did you would know psi is all relative.

Anyways, what car do you have that's so high and mighty?

Regardless of anything, your a pretty negative person. Why even bother modding your car it wastes gas, oh yeah. You haven't.

haha it's an 02 wrx with 325 whp dynoed upgraded suspension all internals and straight pipe...and those come with turbos...not high and mighty and not 26 psi

So your 2.0 is so much better to modify then my 2.0 for what reason?

Again think about what you said. Rour probably running what 18-20ish psi...are you anywhere close to 9's? I think not.
