Knock Mod: +1hp for free

a SVTF zetec would be logical but why the zetec from a zx2?!
Actually i was planning on a built pre98 Contour Zetec. also, there really is little difference between the SVT Zetec and the non SVT zetec other than the forged internals, the head, and the intake manifold (which can only take so much boost).

Zetec equippped Lotus kit cars are basically standard now. Most people building them now are putting them in.

And truth to the ragging on escorts remark, contours are what, one whole notch above escorts.
they arent standard yet but they are making a run at it.

im with you on the whole ragging remark as well. the ZX2 escorts arent horrible cars, not excellent but they are far from the worst thing out there. better than most ricer Hondas

Did I mention I got my 2000 Black Zx2 for $300. Mint condition, spun bearing.

so for about $6K total you could easily have a car that is faster than most cars that cost that much or more just to buy.

I got my pre98 Contour for FREE :D

I had some kid in a bright yellow zx2 talking to me at the last autocross mentioning both of the mods you are talking about. I thought about them for a second until he mentioned +5mpg and another 3-4 hp. The knock mod I may try at some point as I can just plug it back in, but I will not be hacking up my wiring harness to get some ricer mods. Hell I'll go get a premium tune and net 10hp...

FYI: Better stock pcms like the NGP0 and CQW3 (s/r pcms) come with the knock sensor turned off. So whoever thinks this do anything negative, do not.

I'm in NO way ragging on a ZX2... I don't care WHAT car you drive.. it can be aZX2, a Focus, a Contour or a Micra (with flames, btw) and its fine.. its YOUR car.

I just don't agree with the hack mod of that "pots" crap..

The Lotus is a pretty popular recipient of the zetec... hey.. I wonder something... do the lotus owners toss that pots varistor on their dash??

But like I said before I don't care if you yourself don't like it.

It's a great free mod if you don't have tuning and like to race. Period.

I just want to make people aware it exists.

Im on the LocostUSA Forums and no, they dont do any of that POTs crap.:laugh:

so is shaving your head for less wind resistance.

Except that this mod and your mod both do NOTHING for racing (one, because it is inside a closed cabin so hair makes no difference and the other because simply tossing fuel in a closed loop fashion doesn't equate to power or speed in and of itself.

Just because YOU like to race, and YOU have no money and YOU did it doesn't mean that you can combine the three to create your own formula of success. It was something that WAS done, and you had no money, while ALSO liking to race, but has NOTHING to do with benefiting the race itself.

oh.. crap.. I forgot about that "making people aware of it" part.

here:
Zellweger syndrome

Just something that I want to make people aware that it exists.. (this, too, has nothing to do with reliable increased power or speed..)

First, I Loved my wife's 2001 ZX2, iceman intake, borla catback, and FRPP suspension with Energy suspension bushings. That little car went like stink and handled better than my Contour with the D2 Race suspension and everything (including the kitchen sink) thrown at the suspension.

the POTS mod is a hack mod, but there may be some validity to the claims of temporary power increase. So for the "i don't have any money crowd" its an alternative, but I would always opt for the S/R PCM (for ZX2 MTX owners) or a PRP for the contour owners.

With how much people are charing for SR pcms your better off getting xcal at that point.

no. 2L Zetec.

Differences include larger intake ports, larger intake valves, 10.2:1 compression, forged rods, hypereunenic pistons, piston squirters, bigger cams, and VCT on the intake side, and the switchable dual runner SVT intake manifold.

and your contour soooooo much better:rolleyes:

For what the zx2 is, 130hp it scoots along quite well. a properly driven s/r should run right about even with a stock svt.

haha i used to own a zx2 and the differences between the zx2 andthe csvt are night and day 130hp and 195-200hp there's a huge difference try driving one of each and then stand by your statement

nice engine, too..

Holy :censored::censored::censored::censored:...ray you are amazing, have my children

I have a 98 mtx zx2. Its stock right now. Its as quick as a stock v6 MTX tour.

Have you driven a zx2 S/R? They are quite a bit faster then regular MTX ZX2's....
