I haven't seen the intake resistor thing. I know this is may the same thing but is the for gas mileage or power? Most intake resistors people usually round around 5k of resistance.
Pots mod, optimally, uses about 38k of resistance. It works on both the ECT and the IAT. The ECT is the more important connection. Dyno's have proven it to on average to add about 6-9 whp. That's most people's results I have seen people get more. I don't see how it is crap
It makes a pretty big difference on the zx2, if but only for 30 seconds or so.
It can look cool too.
You may think my zx2 is ugly, but I really don't think it's going to be all that slow.
Anyways peak hp isn't everything, pots mod, while giving a decent net gain, is more about how your car responds at around 4k. It's very different with pot's on.
How much time/money are you going to put into a zx2 to make it "not slow?" 130hp is a terrible platform try a festiva.
for $3-4K you can have a boosted Zetec (any platform) thats faster than 3L swapped SVTs. judging by his sig he's gone well beyond just a basic turbo install. 130HP is relative. put a 130HP in a car that only weighs 1300lbs. itll move.
Keep in mind this is not my daily driver. It's not the greatest looking car, but its a cheap platform to race and maintain. For the amount of money I put into it I couldn't be happier. A Zx2 was also my first car so. I'm hoping this car will be weighing in somewhere around 2200 lbs.
Second off, a stock SVTF engine has 170 flywheel hp. Same as a duratec 2.5.
Check a stock svt's torque curve , as well. VCT FTW.
PS: I am not a fan of any body kit for the zx2. I do like the wings west lip kit. My car looks 100% stock, minus 2" drop.
PPS: Try telling the kid whos car that is that the pots mod doesn't look cool. He loves it.
That kid is getting a PNP head I did for him, along with a SVTF intake manifold and throttle body. JBA bullhorn headers to a t3 garrett turbo. The SVTF intake manifold has switchable short long runners hooked up to a window switch to go to short after 6ish-k, whatever you set it to.
It's going to be pretty quick.
or you could do the same to a car that starts out with more hp...that would be logical and it might not look as bad as a zx2...and be alot faster and zx2s weigh like 2600 lb nobody was talking about doing that to 1300lb cars
you clearly havent read his signiture yet.WTF does the svtf have to do with anything it still has more power and would've been an actual platform to start with?
1300lb platform would be something along the lines of a Lotus 7 style car that im planning on building. although i will probably turbo or supercharge it so it will have more than 200WHP, but i could get by with just a stock Zetec.
then say the ZX2 is a ty platform (although clearly they can hit 11s, so its better at drag racing than a contour).
why would you put a zetec in a lotus first of all?
why not? it weighs less and has more displacement in a smaller overall size than the miata engine (which is what most people use). with a bellhousing from Quads4rods it will bolt to a T5.
