Carlisle 2010 discussion

I feel that THE CLUB would be better suited taking their offer of being "on the end" of the SVT section - that way all of us could be together . If I'm understanding it correctly , the area they want to stick us isn't a terrible spot . If you're worried about people not seeing our cars , I believe it'll be OK . As people are strolling through the SVT's , they'll stumble across the cool red-headed stepchildren at the end ! Plus , we really don't have "the pull" to cry too much about where they put us , since our number that last couple years have kinda dwindled . If we pulled down 100 cars , then we could flex our muscle - but we don't , so we can't (unfortunately) . It seems that they are trying to make up for their issues last year , so let's not screw it up . We need to show up , have a good time & hopefully things will improve each year . They've done pretty well for us in past years (last year excluded) , so keep a positive outlook on things .

Paul - you're doing a good job , and you know damn well I'll pitch in for the tent . I need a place to get out of the hot sun , or get out of the pouring rain - whichever it may be ;) .

FWIW - gate 6 is directly to the right of the grandstand (if you're sitting in the stands looking up towards the hill)

Im not saying that the group shouldn't be together, nor that I am worried about people seeing our cars. Its about the group and hanging out with people that we see only a few times a year (for some of us anyway). I just feel that pushing us back over that way is still a slight to the group. sure they are tring to make the situation better but they split our group up two years in a row! they should put us in a really good spot imho, but bottom line at least they are working with us.

Can we maybe pool our resources with NECO? get a joint club thing going and get more peoples?

I'm going to try and make it this year. Not sure if i should bring the Speed3 or the Tour. What are the dates again? i didn't see them posted anywhere.

all I care about is us being able to park together as a group.
If that means placing us at the end of the SVT section, then I'm fine with that.
As long as there's a guarantee that the day we arrive, they're not going to tell non CSVTs to park elsewhere.

I'd rather stick together as CEG.

I will pitch in for tent, or I have those 2 I mentioned earlier.

As we get closer, I start a thread for those who wish to camp OFF THE FAIRGROUNDS. We usually have a few of us that stay at the Western Village RV park, IIRC about $40 per night. It's about 2 miles or so from fairgrounds. That thread will come later.

I know in the past they let people bring a Mazda, think they will again?

yes, i brought one last year an registered with the group. However, they placed me with Misc. Wagons. The speed 3 may be similar.

As for the SVTs and Non-SVTs.. i really dount understand Carlisles issues. The Foci was parked right across from us last year. And both SVT and non-svts were together. Kind of setting a double standard i guess. Is their issue the lack of cars that attended? Last year there i 1 non-SVT would it have been that hard to put him with the rest of the group? As for me in the Protege, i can understand because im not even a contour, but if i register with the group, i figured i would have stayed there..

I also would like to stay with the group. Perhaps at that point it will make the difference if i bring the contour or the mazda, although i really have nothing aftermarket on the contour.

I'm in agreement with staying as a group. I think that is what MOST..or majority of CEG attend AFN for.

And as for whoever asked (blast 47) about hotels/camping, the year I went, we stayed at Hotel Carlisle. It was fairly nice and had a nice gazebo area where we all got together and BS'd for hours. and honestly, DON'T go off into the deep-end with hotels, you only really need it for a place to crash. (or thats how i look at it)

well new engine and trans with less miles on them might make a difference.
Then again, who knows these days.

It'd be awesome if you could make the trip up!

I posted over on NECO to see if anyone was interested in trying to get our groups together in the same show field spot and share a tent.

I think we'd be pushing our luck with the Carlisle people if we also asked that the Cougars be able to park with us, especially if they'll be parking CEG at the outskirts of the SVT area.
Plus, aren't the New Edge Cougars always lumped into the same class as the 89+ Cougars?

just a thought. and yes it appears that they are grouped with the 89+ cougars. This I didn't realize.

last year there where only about 6 new edge cougars. They might as well have their own class to right?

It appears popular opinion has been to have our club placed at the end of the SVT showfield near Gate 6. This seems to be the best compromise of being placed as an entire club, but still allowing our CSVT's to be recognized with the rest of the SVT classes. I have informed Rick of our decision as of today.

The cost will be $175 for the 20' x 20' 25 vehicle tent. I will set up a thread with my Paypal acount in March to begin collecting payments. I am assuming we will have at least nine registered members, so expect to contribute $20 towards the cost of the tent...if I get more than what is needed, then I will refund each person accordingly. Don't forget, if we get 25 registered members, the tent will be provided at no cost and everyone will be refunded their full amount. After I create the thread, folks are free to post on their own when they paid and how much they donated. The tent reservation form is due May 17. If I don't have enough money by May 14, the form will not be sent in, the tent will not be reserved, and folks will be on their own.

I hope everything is clear to everyone so that people know what to expect at this years AFN...let me know if you guys have any questions.
