another Spec Stage 3+ failure

ok, got the car back together friday night. After a few small issues I got about 100 miles of mixed driving on it yesterday. not as bad as I though, but I have to pay good attention to it.

when I get some more time I'll write more of a review. but so far so good.

I finally got to drive mine earlier today and it was interesting. Mine is A LOT easier and lighter than my stock clutch & PP. SO far I like it but I haven't really driven it that far yet.

Do you have a pic of the clutch face? I'd like to see the surface wear. If you post a pic, please post miles with it. Thanks.

Clutch has 5K miles. It will be for sale since it is nearly perfect.

Here are some:

How about the noise differences?

Can't wait to hear what people think, the clutch release at half way sounds very nice... Does it have the SPEC chatter at idle?

How about the noise differences?

my spec never made any noise. as far as I can tell I haven't heard any noises yet either. what I di get is the exhaust hitting the tunnel depending on how I engage the clutch, and some shaking if I am not focusing enough.

mine never had gear roll over noise. but then again my mtx got the coated gears. my tob was squeaking and with a new one its dead quiet at idle.

here is the 100 mile review.

first off this clutch isn't as hard on engagment as I though that it would be. I have been very easily been able to come off the clutch at low rpm and get a nice smooth engagment. shifting and engagment is definately sharp. I haven't gotten on it at all the the grip is good and it hasn't slipped. I had to make some easy pulls on the highway in 5th gear at no more then half throttle. If I wasn't really focused on clutch engagement I got alot of chatter. It does shake the car when it gets bad but for the most part I just notice the exhaust hitting the tunnel. MY friend said she wouldn't know that the clutch was more difficult to drive over stock based on how I was driving it if i hadn't said anything. We both noticed the exhaust hitting the tunnel, I need to push the heat shield back some anyway. In getting use to the clutch taking off from a stop has been really slow as I am working the engagment and not getting any chatter. I was finding that more rpm and feathering the clutch helped. But do that wrong and there was chatter, and it can get bad fast.

So over all the clutch isn't bad to deal with so far. The chatter because of the quick engagment was to be expected.

I hope to get out more tonight and get some more impressions.

Thanks for the update - sounds like it is a good choice. Any word from Clutchnet on a fully faced clutch?

when i last spoke with then they felt this would be the best choice. I wanted to wait for a full faced clutch but I also wanted my car back on the road so I just went with the 6 puck. I'll try to follow up but for now if this works I might just go with it.

I do plan to get Clutchnet my feedback and as again about a full faced clutch.

but again if you are looking for more life or driveability then you could try the yellow organic clutch they have. but for the power of the 3L turbo I couldn't do that. That was a suggestion that I got from clutchnet.

BrApple:

Do you have a filled roll restrictor? The exhaust should not touch the underside unless there is quite a bit of motor movement.

I have the insert for the front roll restrictor and the roll restrictors are really new.

however the borla muffler is on the larger size and there isn't much space around it in the tunnel. its doesn't hit hard, just enough to hear it.

Im thinking I should replace the motor and trans mounts with new ones also.
