thank you for clearing that up. i have a '98 block with '99 30K pistons and rods. the 99 block spun a bearing... oil filter blew off
Not many people have done the 3.0L with oval port heads port matched to the 2.5L intakes. If you want your heads ported youll probably be looking at $1000 minimum to have that done. Of course, once you have that done, you can just slap your 2.5L intakes on. Power numbers seem to be good as well.
so what year motor am i looking for if i go about doing the port matching?
are there any other required components i need?
so far i got a -
2001 and up escape or taurus motor
*port-match the intake ports to the intake manifold from the 2.5
get the car re-tuned after swap
if i were u, i'd get the escape motor. u'd have less stuff to swap out. e.g oil pan, fuel lines n stuff etc.
any other little things that anyone have come across when they have done a swap?
well i got a motor, but when i told the guy what had to be done to drop it in he sad it wont fit. i got the motor from a 2001 Mazda tribute(ford escape). he said the wholes in the block where completely different and he couldn't do it.
is there a specific build date or something needed? im going to talk to the guy and see what he is talking about.
he said that the intake manifold had completely different bolt layout and wont work and same with the alt. bracket and everything
im going to go over there tomorrow and talk to him about this
