Well, it's been a journey with this 3L build. Last night coming home, I took off kinda quick and about 3500RPM I hear a nasty knock. Back off, then limp home and park it. Today, get in it, starts knocking right off the bat when I start the car. Oil is perfectly at the top of the operating hash. So...

I'm curious on how much I could get out of the car. Parting out or selling as whole? It has a bunch of goodies too. So, I figured I'd come to you guys first. Just wanted to get some opinions on what to do.

say it isn't so

You really think it is a rod knock? I hope not. Are you just planning on parting it out then ?

Well, there's no more knock anymore. It BLEW! Had the last few moments with it. Holding it in my arms saying it will go to a better place.

Had the 3L in there and put some miles on it. Probably made the mistake of not replacing the rod bearings. :blackeye: I was on a budget when it was built. Oh well, it was a hell of a ride with the 3L in it. So...my decision is to find another 3L or just part it. Like I said, it has goodies on it, so maybe parting it out will be more profitable.

Well, I was seeing how much CSVT's go for as a whole when broken down. The post wasn't intended for selling it. Once the decision is made on what to do with the car, THEN it will be posted in the classifieds. So far, all offers/talk is PM's.

if you search around the classifieds you will get all the answers about costs that you need. there have been many threads about pricing also ...

Every time I try using the search function it brings nothing relivant to the topic. Don't know if it's the site's search feature or just wrong words. Anyways, if you feel like closing this thread, then fine, do your all mighty deed. /rant

lol ive noticed the same thing.. sometimes a few come up that are moderately relevant... then there are times when you know there were discussions about it, but not one thing comes up with what you searched.

Update:

Trying to find a car tow dolley or trailer to bring the SVT up to school to work on it. Want to see if it's just the rod bearings and possilby fix it and keep it on the road. Figure you guys wouldn't mind that other than it going to the grave.

Yeah this site hasn't been working too well lately. Old Forums aren't working right now either...:nonono:

Once again sure would be nice to be able to "search" the Old Forums...:nonono:

we know the old forums are not working, its being worked on. you need to remember the staff have normal 9 to 5 jobs and do this in their spare time.

plus you have to remember the search function is only as good as the thread titles people make up. thats why its useful to make a good title and not something that is crap. ie instead of just making a posted called need help, how about one puts the problem discription into the title or tag the thread with the relevent key words ....
