Should I?

What's the point of misbadging your G35 to Skyline? Most people don't know what a Skyline is, and those that do will most likely think the misbadging is lame.

And what do you gain out of it? A warm fuzzy feeling every time you read Skyline on the back of your own car? Just download some porn and get the job done the old fashioned way.

do it

do it

dude seriously, if you want to put skyline on there go ahead. i think it looks nice. the only mistake was asking peoples opinion. its your car, i vote do it as well. And who cares if someone doesn't like it right? ITS THE SAME CAR!

the funny thing is he likes it but wants opinions from others.

if you like it, isnt that all that matters?

just put skyline badges all over so it can look like every other g35 around here with smoked brake lamps and big wheels

Pete, do you need a tissue for you eyes?

And since when does everyone around here think badging a contour with mondeo is cool. I think its retarded!!! Just like the non SVT people putting SVT on their cars... Its all just stupid, pointless and ricerish!! If you are too embarassed to drive what YOU bought then you should have never bought it in the first place!! End of story, and I got the woot sticker from mr xceedspeed himself.

Is it labeled a skyline? It's not man. So please leave it be.

It's a lease. Save your pennies cause i bet when you get a new car you will be looking back asking yourself why did i waste money on that lease.

Pete nobody cares about what it is called in japan. This is America you should call the car the way it was badged here in the states.

for those saying its the same car, its not the same car! It's close, but not the same...

if it was the same car, it would be called the skyline gt350!

there are different parts for each car, which means they are not the same car! when they are exactly the same, except for badging, then rebadge to make it seem like its "the better of the two" which neither one is better then the other!

i think trying to badge your car "as the same car but japanese version" is like immigrants failing to learn english... you're in the us, in the us, its called the infiniti g35, if you want a skyling gt350, move to japan...

or import one so you can sit on the right!

then again, its your car, do what you will!! if it doesnt add to the look of the car, or the power, then its a waste of money!

I'm with you on these two points.

It is not exactly the same car. Each has its own distinctions making it what it is.

The fact is that people want to pretend that "oh, I actually do own a skyline" when in fact they dont. Stop pretending, you drive a G35 (not directed towards Goonz, but to those who misbadge their cars).

If that car were in Japan, it'd be called a Skyline. Like the Ford Cougar in the UK, is a Mercury Cougar here. It's not misbadging, like adding an SVT badge on a Mystique or adding an SVT badge on my F150.

Are some people not getting the fact that it's the same damn car (local laws changed minor things), just on different sides of the Pacific? If he wanted to add a GTR or some badge for something that it is not, then I can see why people are *****ing so much.
It is like the guys who switch their GS300 badging over to the JDM name (I can't think of it right now.... Aristocrat maybe??)

I can understand flat out misbadging, but in this case I see nothing wrong with swiutching over to JDM bading when it is the same basic car.

sorry but I dont see any of that around in my area, there are very few coupes around here. I know what you mean though because when I was in LA, I saw a crap load of coupes.

Im probably not going to do the badging, I was thinking I already get eye'd by cops, having a car with different badges would surely give them a reason to give me trouble.

def. buying the vinyl for the tailights though, cant go wrong with that. If I dont like them, I'll peel them off and throw them out

dude, badge the car however you want.... if you think it will look better to have a different name on the back, then do it!

If this were a poll, I'd vote no.

If you must, then you'd need to change the Infiniti badges to Nissan as well. Can't have an Infiniti Skyline. :blackeye:

No, I simply hate the double standard. I know of a few SVT mondeos on here and everyone at the time had a hard on for em...

ARISTOCRAT!! LOLOL

I think you are talking about the toyota soarer, maybe?!

Yes, this is the point I was trying to really make and did so poorly!

i understand what your doing and i would say go for it. i owned an integra gsr for 2 years before buying an svt. like most honda/acura owners, i replaced the acura badges with honda badges to give it a "jdm" look. i like th skyline badges on the g35's cuz you dont see too many of them with the nissan badges.

The thing is that I dont want to swap out the Infiniti badge with that of the Nissan. That for me is too over board. The best thing is to take off the badge and just let the back say skyline 350GT..but again as I said, im prolly not gonna do that.

I say go for it. It's always cool when I see someone with the Skyline badging. Makes me think that the owner may know at least a little bit about their car.
'

I completely agree. And I also like the tinted tails. It emphasizes the two circles in the taillights that have been on all Skyline GTR's since the R32 (maybe earlier? I don't know)

Goonz nice car!!, tint the tails I say yes, but its not a Skyline(first built in'64)R31,32 or anything like it. Obviously you know more about your car than most here so do what you want. The Jap version is way more$$ for a ton of reasons,TTs,AWD to name a few. Since '89 the Skylines GT-Rs have had TTs and electronic AWD(big$$)the newest GT-R (R34)runs with the 911GT3:drool: . I agree the G35 Coupe is the closest to a GT-R we can get but the differences are huge. I like your coupe(which is designed by the same engineer who currently designs the R34) alot but lets not get it confused with the best Jap production car ever built. By the way the "real" GT-R is coming in 2 more years with a reworked(over 80%)VQ35 TT-built by Cosworth(yes the same Cosworth)Nice Ride!! Good Luck Rikk

Actually it IS a Skyline. The skyline is a general commuter car in japan just like the ford mustang or something else common here that is kinda sporty. What you're talking about is the GT-R. A skyline in japan is in fact the same car as the G35 here with rear wheel drive (some models have 4) but with right hand drive and a few other minor differences. The GT-R is the hopped up techno car with the 4WD system.

Quote from wikipedia:
The 11th generation (V35) Nissan Skyline, introduced in June 2001, is based on Nissan's FM platform, which is shared with the 350Z. The Nissan Skyline uses a front-midship engine (VQ35DE), rear-wheel drive layout (all-wheel drive is available for the sedan) to achieve a 52%/48% weight distribution. The V35 also marks the first generation of Skyline made for export to the United States. There it is sold under the company's luxury brand, Infiniti, as the Infiniti G35.

The V35 marks a major turning point for the Skyline. There is no straight 6, no turbo variant, and no GT-R variant. Nissan put a slightly more powerful VQ35DE in the 350Z, and although the Skyline & the 350Z share the same platform, the 350Z has additional bracing, underbody aero parts, and weighs 100 kg less.
