PRT @ the 2010 GRM challenge?

I'll donate my old SHO 3.0. It needs bearings but it ran. Throw in a set of bearing and turbo then all you'll need is a body!

Dodge turbo cars- find one of those old hideous 80's turbo daytonas. I know that those motors are stought and can really be tweaked.
I was wondering how long it was going to take before you entered in this. A guy at work was building a car with a Zetec motor till his wife got laid off and that ended that. I would go with the Daytona...probably get it for cheap and there might be a few around in the jy's yet. There was one fs in Sheb. not too long ago

Theres a 99 cougar in craigslist with a rod knocker motor, automatic though. She only wants 1200 for it, but had an offer for $500. Has leather interior so money could be recouped big time there.

Sportbike motor in a very small car would be fun though.......oh turn it sideways mount a shortened ford 9" rear end and you'd have a super duper rwd go cart......hmmm that sounds like fun.

You need to find a factory turbo car so you can compete. i used to read grassroots when the challenge was $2001. Its amazing what people will say they found laying around for $50.

hmm...turbo...cheap...rwd...ugly...what car fits all those categories??:laugh::laugh:

Dodge Spirit RT... 5 spd turbo 4 banger @ 224hp from the factory.

Edit: I do realize this isn't RWD.. just throwing it out there

I dunno regardless its tough competition.

I second the turbo dodge idea. I used to have a turbo Dodge Shadow and they are easy to mod and quick too. I got a huge intercooler from a Starion for $20 at the junkyard, and a bigger turbo and that thing flew. I smoked alot of unsuspecting Cameros, Mustangs, and plenty of ricers too. You should be able to find one for dirt cheap. They made Shadows, Daytonas, Spirits, and plenty of other models. They seemed to be turbo crazy over at Chrysler back then. But if I had to pick one, it would be the turbo Omni. It's lightweight, and just add lots of boost and you have one hell of a cheap and fast car......ugly too, but it should get the job done. If you can find a Shelby Omni you'd be one step ahead of the game.

The Omni GLH...

What does GLH stand for? Goes Like Hell

Then they came out with an upgrade... the GLH-S, which of course stood for: Goes Like Hell - Somemore

So i got my latest issue of grassroots motorsports, and this issue featured the GRM cars from this year. :et just say that got $2010 i could build a car that could easily finish mid-pack, hell, a 3L SVT with some suspension upgrades could finish mid pack with ease. I'm still not 100% on this as i have another festiva build that i've been thinking about lately, but we'll save that thread for later.

The more i think about it, the more i like the idea of finding a 323 GTX drivetrain and making the sucker AWD. Motor options right now are a 1.6T or an escort GT 1.8 + T, which i've seen put down some ridiculous power for cheap.

I'd want to go about n inch lower than this yet, with 16s and probably the fsvt/csvt brake setup, might even consider throwing in an ABS system as even the stock brakes lock up the tired pretty easily.

Just for fun:

This car has a carbed 1.8 with ITBs...
