so the new 3.0 arrives tuesday, comes with a 90day warranty this time, but it's got 70K on it. oh well, I'll have 90 days to ruin this one on the free.

might start tearing the trashed one out tomorrow. if anybody needs anything from it let me know, I gotta drum up some cash.

I'll also be finding out how much of a hurry the foreclosure folks are in monday, as I just got the notice of actual foreclosure the other day.

Yup. Any modifications you do to the engine will ruin the warrenty. Heck, throwing it into a car that isn't stock will most likely do that as well. Hope you asked about that before you bought it.

and about the warranty guys, first of all, I doubt a place would sell a blown engine with a warranty, given that they have to pay pullers to pull it and deliver it. plus, they guy is literally at an auction today buying more cars, so these arent dragged in backyard disasters, their state trooper impounds.

also, I doubt any clown at a junk yard will notice two tiny tabs removed. theoretically your correct, but theoretically a contour is made for the grandmothers who couldn't afford a taurus.... so that doesn't really matter for us does it. what matters is how it will work out in the end.... :laugh:

Thats how most salvage yards pick up much of their inventories. Did you ask him for a compression test or if the engine had been tested at all? I have bought a blown motor before. Pulled off the pan, saw shrapnel and brought it back to where I bought it.

hehe, well the 01 didn't pass the compression test, so I'm getting an 04 with 40k that they had, since I'd already paid, don't think these guys are trying to screw me. so yeah, it passed the compression test. gets here tomarrow.

bottom end of this engine got abused because information I got from a different site had the engine running on 6 and 2 only.

everything else is sorted now, I just have to swap in this 04' long block that will be here tomarrow.

Yes and you have to put it together and put it in yet. Compression test don't mean ! Do you have any clue that people still spun bearings on "good" 3L's? It's cheap insurance all new rod bearings on the bottom end, I'd do main bearings for peace of mind too. If you don't you'll be asking for trouble AGAIN!

I'm trying to get it through your head read the 3L threads slowly and let it soak in. There are plenty of horror stories from those that did it wrong. I'm not being a dick or a douchebag. You are because you refuse to listen to EVERYONE!

All your other threads are pissing matches, why do you think that is? CEG does not all get along as one click, there is plenty of hate to go around between people. One thing is a fact though when EVERYONE is telling you to back away from the car DO IT!

That would be the last payment I would be late on. I would sell everything I own to keep my home. Good luck with the build.

Actually removing the EGR would be less of a hack job then trying to make it work... As everyone has pointed out in your other thread.

Joe and PurdySVT are right, you should put this at the bottom of the list. Maybe sell the car, make your payments, and pick up something that will get you to work so you can eventually make enough to do what you want to do. If I was in your situation, I would sell everything I have, minus the car, forget the engine for now, and make the mortgage payments. If you don't have a place to work on the car, you can't put the 3L in it anyway. Also, you will have to vacate the house when they evict you, and then you have to spend more money to move a dead car. With the money you are spending on the new 3L you could buy an Escort or Civic so you can get to work. You seem like you have your priorities crooked.
