for the last 4-5 months I have been running a mustang throttle body on my car; I was kind indifferent about the changes it made at first but the more I drove the car with the throttle body, the more I loved the way it changed city and highway driving for me.
To anybody looking for an inexpensive mod for their SVT; this is THE WAY to go. I know there has been dyno tests which say you loose 1 or 2 horsepower in to the top end, but for daily driving the way this throttle body provides torque in the low end is just amazing. With the stock throttle body I would find myself constantly downshifting to do passes in city traffic, when I switched to the mustang throttle body I can leave the car in a high gear, push my foot down a little bit and feel the torque just rush in.
Because of which since im not downshifting as much I have seen increases in gas mileage as well. I went from average 24 mpg up to 26 mpg. If people express a lot of interest I would even consider writing up a how-to on the procedure for doing this mod, it is a little more than just slapping a new throttle body on, it does require a small amount of adjustments to the throttle and so on... Anyways, just wanted to put this out there. I did a quick search and couldn't really find any concrete threads on mustang throttle bodies, but rather people just mentioning them occasionally in a couple of threads.
EDIT: I also would like to add, The person who inspired this mod and helped me very much with the project is Harrry; he pointed me in the direction of which throttle body to order and modified it to work on a contour. We had discussed what the throttle body does for the Contour multiple times... At first I didn't like the way it drove, but after I had recently fixed a couple of minor issues on my car it changed everything for me, which is why I waited a couple of months before I decided to go out and make my statement about the mod.
Harrry has built quite a few of these throttle bodies, as well as custom stopping plates so the throttle body wont open too far at WOT. Anyways, I wanted to give credit where credit was due.
