Genesis Coupe. I <3 you

Here's the thing.

Hyundai has ZERO performance cred. NONE. They are an economy car company. They have never made any kind of performance vehicle... EVER. And as much as some people would like to say the Tiburon is one, they would be very, very wrong.

So now, all of a sudden , they come out with this supposed performance car. And it's not just billed as a "competitor", it's being touted as a "class-leader", "world-beater" and "Mustang-killer."

Every car is nice when it's brand new. But people are gonna buy these things. And they are going to beat on them. And they are gonna break - GLORIOUSLY.

And here's the part where everyone starts saying, "Look at Rhys Millen's Red Bull drift Genesis!" Well, yeah. Stock internals? No way. Stock turbo? Don't make ma laugh. Stock transaxle? If so, it's been cryo-treated. Stock drive shaft? No way. Stock differential? No. Stock wheels and tires? No. Cost to make it competitive? Tens of thousands of dollars. Easily.

Be glad they have a good warranty - you're gonna need it. And I foresee Hyundai denying a LOT of claims.

Remember back in 89' what Toyota did, they came up with company called LEXUS, you know, the people that made Corolla's and those real boring Camry's:shrug: I wouldn't call the car a "Mustang Killer" for one reason, this car looks like it can carve up a canyon road because its LIGHTER and more nimble and has RWD, what a concept! Throw in the 300+ hp engine you you've got a "Musta_ _ _ -er", wait, maybe their onto something:shrug:

I've seen GT500 Mustangs with the window stickers on them break "gloriously" so whats your point exactly? Hyundai already passed Ford in reliability so why make the comparison about beating on cars versus warranty claims?

Watch a drag or drift mustang and its the same story so why make the comparison?

Hating the brand because you owned a lemon is one thing but bandwagon hating the brand while ignoring how far they came so fast while passing the domestic offerings in their classes makes you look dumb.

Every car company has to start somewhere. Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Nissan didn't start with some amazing performance car right out of the gate.

Exactly. And at least Hyundai is doing it right like the other asian brands. Giving us the exact same platform year after year after year with revised styling while telling us its an amazing performer is not the right way btw.

In case you have been living in a cave, the past few years Hyundai has made vast leaps and bounds in their cars. Look at the Genesis....won car of the year at the Detroit Auto Show. Also look at Nissan GT-R.....launch control. They have made some very impressive performance cars, look at how that one turned out.

And THAT, kids, is exactly the point.

The Genesis coupe should be a good starting point, not the very Son of God on four wheels, as some are perceiving it already, even before a single consumer has even set butt on the seats.

Reliability on a Sonata or an Elantra (commuter car) is one thing. Reliability on a "performance" car is quite another.

This gullibility is stupefying.

And you just proved everyone elses point. You're predicting a lack of reliability before it's even in the U.S. market.

dude... i think you are overstating things a bit. noone is conisidering the greatest car ever built. jesus. :help:

Right now yeah. The rumored Toyota/Subaru car is still in the works and the Camaro probably wont hit that under $25,000 mark Bob was hoping for.

Every other RWD coupe out there is way past the $25K mark. I am seriously having trouble thinking of anything besides high end luxioury cars or pure sports cars that are RWD. Lots of AWD now....and that isn't a bad thing either.
