Street cars, yes - race cars no. With AWD, I'd almost think that with traction at both ends of the car, downforce could be less important in that respect. However with FWD, the rear is more or less going along for the ride and downforce is much more important to keep the rear planted on the road - more so if you're sporting a splitter under the chin, to help keep the car's handling more neutral.aren't some mondies AWD? hence the "need" for the spoiler
