I'm about to do a bunch of work on my SVT and I just want to be sure that the motor I'm about to work on is fine. I have no reason to think I have a spun bearing but it's something I want to be sure of thats all. I feel it runs pretty good but it is a new car to me and I just want to double check with all this oil starvation stuff I've read about.
So, I know rod knock is a knocking sound thats very audible and increases with RPM. But what does a spun bearing sound like? Where is the noise most heard at, near the oil pan? Does the sound change with rpm, like if I were to rev the engine while sitting idle does it increase in sound and intensity? Are there any other symptoms of a spun bearing other than sound?
I'm probably just being paranoid but...
Thanks
