Escort Cosworth = Best car ever.

Such a bad ass engine, yet has the sissy timing belt... :nonono:

I never get why people are so against belt timing. You change them every 60k-80k miles, and you will NEVER have a problem with them. Timing chains can break and require replacement after time as well. I have NEVER had a timing belt break on me on any engine ever. I hate when people decide something or some part is bad just because they fail at maintenance. It is just like with factory turbo vehicles. They always have a reputation for costly mechanical failures and short engine life....... well, it is because people don't take care of the damn things.

I remember when I used to get SCC back in the day there was one featured in there and it was orange and made 390 whp!....and its here in the USA. This guy back home, Francois (spelling) has a Sonic Blue 95' and it appears to be stock, but it isn't. He's also got Puegot 205 rallye car, Lacia Delta Intergrale 16v, Audi quattro.

Build it and they will come, right!

I wish I had spare cash, and the desire to make one "appear" USA legal. :D

13.5k pounds + shipping and it's left hand drive!

and more pics of it here....

*note: I read that there were some cossie escorts in the US and went searching. I found that site and then started dreaming. The intent of this post is not as an advertisement, but only to share that dream.

For that price I would clone an EGT to a cossie. You can swap an AWD in from a 323 GTR or with a readily available adapter plate the near bulletproof AWD trans from a Toyota All-trac with a BPT for power. Then all you need is a 323 bumper/headlights/hood/grill/fenders, the whale-tail spoiler, cossie vents and to make the widebody panels. It has been done before.... well, I can't recall any AWD cossie clones, but, physical clones yeah, and there are a couple AWD escorts out there now.

No matter what you do to make a cossie look legal, you would never be able to register it unless it was brought over a long time ago and kept registered since being brought over.

I drove one for a while while living in England. They are spectacular cars. Mrs. Trapps put it sideways one night on a B road. Those shorts are gone...

There is no way I can drive a left hand vehicle. My shifting would be so horrible...I normally keep my left hand on the wheel as it feels natural vs if I keep my right hand on the wheel I am no where near as smooth.

ummm, all the vehicles in your sig are left hand drive...... You are thinking a right hand drive vehicle.... And to be honest with you, after driving this old mail jeep we were restoring and my my bosses old 48 jaguar, really, you get used to right hand drive quickly, the problem is staying in the right side of the road and you NEVER want to pass someone. Plus it can be hard to see some things.

Here is a pic of the interior of that cossie to get your orientation straight

My bad! I meant right hand drive. Figured those cars were backwards. Then again I should have looked at the pics a little better.....

heheheh. Yeah, there are more than 100 cossies (Sierra, Escort, etc..) listed there, and this was the only left hand drive I found. It's a fairly recent post too.

the car in the first picture of this thread is registered in Connecticut.

Yeah, that is why they made a big deal about mentioning that it was left hand drive on the ad, cause over there, that is backwards, here it is perfect, assuming there was a legal way to register the car.

Now that is a SICK Escort. It's too bad we never get the best of the best over here in the States.

What the heck are you talking about, back in the mid 90's we got the Mustang GT with what, 215 hp and then slightly higher after that. Too many "Pinks generation" out there..."Boy, give me a VEE-ATE, 4 speed on the da floor and smokin' the rear tires over all that there import crap" I mean, give Ford credit, they tried to "open people's eyes" with the SVO and Merkur but we just didn't get it:shrug::eek::nonono:
