Speakers

Yeah I just put new speakers in a couple months ago. They're 6 x 8 all around. The factory ones were 20 watt so I put in (2)220 watts in the front and (2)240 watts in the back. What kind are you thinking about putting in? Mine were Pioneer if you were wondering and Wal-mart has them for 56.00 for a pair.

I picked up a pair of those same ones on Amazon.com shipped for 8 bucks less than that! Not a problem if you have the time and patience to wait. Mine got here in less than a week.

Yeah but I was bored one summer day just got done with work and decided to go to Wal-Mart. Seen the speakers and bought them put 'em in. Liked them so the next week and found the 240 watt ones so bought them and put them in the back. One of those impulse buys i guess but yeah if your looking for a pretty decent speaker you found it Pioneer is one of the better ones around I am a happy buyer. You got to have a good head unit though to get the best bass I got a 200 watt Jensen not the best known but pretty good. But hey it works.Oh and the speakers are 6 x 8 if you were wondering what to buy and they fit perfectly in the car's original spot.

For the price, they simply can't be beat. Sound is good. Bass is much better than you would expect. You'd have to buy used to get more for your money. What Polks were you considering?

I was thinking about the Polk bd570. They're $80 on crutchfield right now. I had a pair in my sister's Honda awhile back and i really liked the way the polk sounded. i had some infinty reference in my escort gt and those didn't really impress me. I never tried the pioneer speakers though eventhough I have a pioneer deck.

CarDomain.com has the same speaker for $57. A few reviews can be found here. Doesn't seem to be the best speaker for the money.

Frequency response, gentlemen. Always check the frequency response numbers to get good sounding speakers. Many times, the more expensive speakers don't produce enough bass. 20hz to 20Khz is what you're looking for, 35hz to 20+khz is good. Anything more than 35 at the low end and you're gonna start missing the lows.

They sounded kinda bad powered off of the deck, but they're amazing when amped.

Correct. The Pioneer has better figures: 30Hz ~ 28kHz. Odds are you aren't going to find a budget door speaker that will go as low as 20Hz. If you do, point me to it. And by budget, I mean right around fifty bucks.

these kenwood cam pretty close. I'm not too familiar with kenwood though

The only Kenwoods I've had have been head units. A cassette pull-out back in the EARLY 90s, and an Excelon about 7 years ago that had a malfunctioning motorized face. It's a decent price on those speakers. I'd say go for it. You might check your local electronics stores to see if they might have them where you can hear them first though.
