^^^what he said. stock for stock, equal drivers, i would put my money on an SVT Contour over a 96 cobra on a road course.

Eh... on a tight road course like Stratotech race park they were about even, contour can catch me in the corners, i pull on the straights. On a larger track like Race city the contour wouldnt be able to keep up. The contour brakes really well for what it is, Its probably on par for my car when it had stock brakes. Now, my brakes are much better.

And my car on a road course, I wouldnt know, I havent ever been on one yet.....key word yet!

It's easy to be cocky and say stuff like "i bet i would be faster around a road course" and whatnot, but a turbo 3L contour is going to be horrible on a race course, not to mention an auto-X, its just got too much power for what the tires can handle, if you lose traction in 2nd gear going in a straight line, imagine an off camber turn where your tires dont have all that grip. The car will understeer like a banshee with any throtte input. Torque steer FTL. Believe me... i know what im talking about, ive autocrossed, road raced, and drag raced both my old contour, and my Cobra.

hahaha cause I said ehh its a mustang and pointed out the fact he is a bigger dbag than I am, dude your head must be WAY up his butt cave. Its still just a purple mustang that I see all the time around here with a procharger that I also see all the time around here. You wanna impress me, show me a hot contour since this is a contour forum, till then buh bye:laugh:

What is any different from a Mustang Cobra with a blower and a Contour SVT with a 3L and a Turbo kit..... Other than the fact that mine makes useable power...

His constant negativity towards Contours is what brings it on. He consistently bashes Contours, and thinks Mustangs are the be-all and end-all of performance.

You don't see me coming on here bashing Contours because my daily driver is faster than my modded Contour do you? I didn't think so.

Uh, i didnt bash contours once in this thread..... I just said that they have their place, and making them fast has nothing to do with adding horsepower.. it has everything to do with making the suspension geometry work around a track. Once you do that, the car is very very fast.

Well it looks good Tourige, it is my favorite body style 94-98 and my favorite paint option. Fast is a relative term though, it wouldent look that fast next to my bike..... :o I hope your sig is different on your mustang forum.

Haha yea, its SLOOOOOOW compared to a lot of cars out there.

My brothers 450whp Supercharged 05 GT pulls about 1/2 a car on me all the way through 4th.

^^Yeah like this, this is from a stang forum about having a repair to do on his.

1. It's not Dupont paint. The formulation was sold to Dupont as they have the most marketable name. The cars were sprayed at the factory with all the Dupont "hype."

2. There are NO Dupont factory packs available. IE premixed at the Dupont factory. This is per Dupont Performance Coatings Tech. support line who told me to contact BASF for the paint, a body shop which has been spraying Dupont since 1959, Carquest Fl. paint rep., and the local Finishmaster paint supplier.

3. Yes you may buy the Dupont G6 code at $453/pt. in the Chroma llusion line however tint will have to be added (ie custom mixed) and according to the paint source (more on that below), "you will NEVER be able to manually mix and get a perfect match."

4. Yes you may buy other brands of paint and manually mix; however, see #3 above.

5. BASF is the patent holder and only Co. with a factory pack (premixed) available which is a perfect match for the factory paint. This is according to a BASF tech. at their American HQ as well as the FL. BASF product manager.

6. There are two lines under the BASF name where you will find the G6 factory pack named 2004 Ford Mustang Cobra Mystic Chrome Metallic.
6a. Glasurit 55 Line
6b. R-M Diamont line $153/pt. solvent-borne

7. They are both polyester based paints as was the factory available in both waterborne or solvent-borne.

8. It is very possible to spot repair with the factory pack. No need to paint the entire car or blend into panels. Blending within the damaged panel if far away enough from another is acceptible.

9. Get someone to spray the car who paints with either the Glasurit or R-M lines as they will have the correct reducers, clears, activators, groundcoats etc. already on hand which will save you money. I was quoted $190 for the above most of which would have to be thrown away. Not to mention they will be familiar with the product.
Hope this helps. Any questions feel free to ask but I think I covered everything which should help the "next guy" fix his/her car alittle easier.

World or wheels, or the international autoshow? They fall into almost the exact same time frame each year. EIther way, I was at both last year, my company did all of the detailing for Davenport Motorsports cars, as well as a few other there. One being the Main Range Rover that they had on their stand, the black Westminster.

International Autoshow. My company did the detailing for Ford, Lincoln, BMW,Mini, Jaguar, Land Rover, Nissan, Infiniti, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Subaru. Chances are I saw you there then haha. Doing Edmonton and Calgary back to back was interesting. Sadly I was so busy in Calgary I only got to hit up one bar/club and that was the back alley (went on Wednesday night), I must say there are some intersting people at that bar.

HAHA yes crack alley. It was close to our hotel (Bestern Western on Macloead Trail South). I found out how bad the club was after I went there, but we still partied like Rockstars although I am pretty sure I was the only black there was out there jamming when system of a down came on:laugh:. I don't own a company sadley I work for an Automotive Marketing Company and one of our services is detailing. I just realized since you did that Range Rover then I wonder if you are the guy Iw as talking to at the Land Rover booth, I was detailing the Infiniti booth which was linked to the Land Rover booth.

Ohh okay, well that explains it. I try to stay away from that place haha. Yeah, that very well may have been us. That range rover was a PAIN in the rear to do, softer clear then any car i've ever seen, it made ferrari clear seem rock hard!!! There were three of us, 6 footish blonde guy(me), or one of my guys is a shorter chubbier guy and a shorter well built spanish man? If you're into detailing you should go by detailingbliss, awesome site for the detailer.

Yeah I know how much of a Pain the Range Rovers can be. You were the guy I had spoken to briefly then (could see you were getting annoyed with the Range haha). Thanks for the info on the detailign site I'm going to go check it out.

How many miles on that bad boy? I'm so tempted to buy a project SVTC and paint it that color.

hahaha, ever look into the cost of paint on one of those stangs?

How much money are we talking? If were talking between 4-7K then it wouldent be out of budget. I didnt think the paint was that expensive.

The paint alone is about 8 grand to do an entire car IIRC.

And you wouldnt be able to paint it Mystic anyways, as the only way to get the paint is through BASF and they do a VIN check to make sure the car is actually an original Mystic.

Basically what happens when you need it painted is this:

You contact your painter, they call BASF, BASF takes all your car information as well as the painters information and backround with painting. Then they bring the paint over in an ARMOURED car.... The BASF rep shows the painter how to paint the car correctly. He stays there while the car is being painted. Then when everything is done, the rep takes EVERYTHING, all of the scrap paper that has paint on it, any tape, any leftover paint, EVERYTHING.

The reason they do that is because the pigment in MYSTIC is the same pigment used in $20 bills that gives it that weird color changing thing, so if someone got a hold of the mystic paint, they could make counterfit bills.

Mystichrome on the other hand can be bought easily and its the same price as most normal paints.
