RAD's 3L build

Well here is the hose I am trying to put on
DSC04909.jpg

This is where it was hooked up on the water pump and now the oil cooler is on there

Here is the oil cooler hooked up
DSC04911.jpg

This is where the hardline from the oil cooler goes under the water pump
DSC04912.jpg

And this is the hard line under the waterpump I am trying to hook the hose back up to but the ID of the hose is too big. Should I just get a different hose clamp to clamp it tighter? and are my lines hooked up correctly?

Now I know plenty of people have helped me with this but I'm gonna do it again because I have no Idea what is going on. (thank you for putting up with my idiocy)

So this red line goes into my fuel rail
DSC04897.jpg

This green line goes into my EGR
DSC04899.jpg

This yellow line under the green one just connects onto...
DSC04919.jpg

...whatever connects here
DSC04920.jpg

Now where does this red line connect to?
DSC04918.jpg

Thank you so much guys I pretty much broke all these brittle lines cuz I suck. thank you

The coolant lines are correct, but the hose is too big to fit on there with a clamp and hold a seal?

Your vacuum lines are correct, there should be 2 vacuum lines coming out from the firewall that will connect to the last two pics you have.

first red line goes to FPR. green line from the solenoid goes to the EGR valve. yellow line and second red line will connect to the EVAP purge solenoid on the firewall and the HVAC line coming up from the firewall (one to each).

I put on the hose and clamped it and I could just pull it off by hand with little force. Thank you guys I think I finally got the vacuum lines figured out. and anybody elses EGR not line up at all when they put on MSDS headers? When I bolt the EGR on the UIM the bottom nut is like 2 inches away from the header. solution for this?

Edit: I found a thread about the EGR problem and SHOgoFast had the same problem. He ended up just fabbing it to make it work because his engine was already installed so I'm gonna tinker around with it and find the culprit. I'll keep you posted

Ok guys here are my findings:

this is the EGR bolted up to my UIM and it doesn't reach the fitting on the header
DSC04924.jpg

Here it is bolted up to the same UIM and my stock exhaust manifold
DSC04925.jpg

So my header is at fault. If this is not a common problem with these (seeing as not many others have ran into this problem) is my header defective? MSDS says "retains all oe emission fittings" will they warranty this?

Thanks any input will be great
Brian

looks like they welded the fitting on in the wrong spot. send them an email with the pictures and see what they say.

have you tried bending the egr tune to see if it will reach? Maybe use the compression fitting and cut the egr pipe to make it work? could this be similar to the weaponR headers for location? If so a late model cougar egr tube should bolt up.

Well you guys are right I have the wrong application. MSDS says the make 6 different sets of headers for the duratec. So I called Joey (but I think he took the day off for saint pattys haha) and I will get this figured out. Also I noticed on the left hand header it has another hole in it by where it bolts up to the Y-pipe and it looks like its for an O2 sensor but my stock manifold doesn't have that so could that one be for the wrong application as well?

yes the front header should have two locations for O2 sensors. well unless its for a 01-02 cougar, then it wouldn't have the down stream sensors in the exhaust manifold/y-pipe.

nevermind my stock one does have 2 so... i'm dumb. anyways I just talked to joey and the easiest thing for me to do is just buy an EGR for an 01-02 cougar. so I will be posting an add in the sales.

Maybe Joey could send you the EGR delete kit he has? You'll be getting the tune from him so he can add that to the tuning.

I know some early Cougars never came with knock sensors but cars did come with one. The 3L's all have knock sensors that I've seen. It looks more like a grounding strap on the 3L vs the knock sensor on the 2.5L so it's easy to miss.

Ok I think I know what you're talking about. Is it like a black box with metal piece coming out of it that bolts somewhere? and comes out of the harness by the coil pack? I'll take a picture when I get home. I couldn't find one on my 2.5 either though

Here's the scoop. I can't find a knock sensor. I imagine it would be just a sensor in my block somewhere that part of my harness plugs into but... no sensors in my block. Coog said it was like a ground strap. I did find this sensor on my 2.5 harness (which i am using on my 3L) and even if this isn't it I still don't know what it is

So if this isn't it can anyybody give me a location on the block or a pic of what it looks like? and what is this
