what plugs and oil should i run in my 98 csvt it has 162k? i just pulled a plug on my car and im really not sure if they have ever been done

Autolite double platinum, model # APP764. Gapped to .050 to .054".
For oil, you'll recieve lots of opinions.

yeah royal purple is a little high. I wanna run that but i run 5w30 mobil syn. it's $21 for a five quart bottle and 3.50 per quart extra. so about 28 in all.

I just bought a set of Autolite XP 104 plugs. I don't need them for another 5K miles. I have always used APP 764 plugs in the past, but the XP 104 is a closer match to the factory plug.

Mobil 1 seem to be a favorite on here. It was used in my 95 since day one and it was at 200K miles when I sold it and it ran smooooooooooth.

I have had good luck with Super Techs full synthetic from wal mart. Great price for a full synthetic. I have been thinking about switching to valvalines high milage full synthetic though.

I'm using the XP 104's in the SVT. I didn't really notice any difference from the APP764s but they didn't seem to hurt :laugh: Maybe I should put a few more miles on them and report how they look (only have ~1200 on them so far)

And whatever oil you use; put in 6 quarts

I personally just stick with the Motorcraft 5w30 and 820S filter (cheap too!)

Heck if you change your oil every 4 K miles just use Walmart synthetic 5W-30 and Motocraft 820S oil filter.

well i got red autolites cause the guy messed up and i just through them in and when i was on the alst plug yup there the wrong plugs just the regular autolights instead of the plat.2.. kinda pissed what will this do to my car? it seems to run ok.

They will run fine, but only for about 30,000 miles or so. They will wear much faster than double platinum.

I'm a newbie but the NGI Iridium (T55 or something like that) work very nicely for me. Around 24mpg around back roads.
